I took the toyota engineer for a ride this week and he could barely hear the noise whild driving with cruise on at 70mph. (this seems to be a frequency hearing sensitivity thing as well because i was hearing it). He had me pull over and he pulled he airfilter from the airbox. I engaged the emergency brake, stepped on the brake pedal, put it in gear and slowly brought the engine up to 1800RPMs (stopped)and......IT STARTED SCREAMING...bingo!! There is something about the airbox that makes the engine scream! I suggested trying the TRD air filter whih i put in today and it made it worse. It made the range from 1500-2500 RPM and it was much louder. I thought it may be the CFM sensor but it isnt....Please try this and call 800-331-4331 to complan if you hear it too....my next step it to try other aftermarket filters. Please check and post. thanks.

I took a close look at the RPM and engine noisy, and found out that while accelerating from 0 to 40 MPH, the RPM goes up to 2000 - 3000 RPM, engine has noisy yet nice sound. after passing 40MPH yet before 50MPH, the engine starts having low frequency sound, and RPM drops to 1000-2000 RPM.

Then I had a Toyota engineer test drive. He said everything is normal, the engine sound and RPM changes are because of the 6-speed transimission. He also think the computer is programmed to coordinate the V8 engine with the 6-speed transimisson. I am going to first enjoy the riding first though I don't quite understand the engineer's comments.

XX Miles to Empty by ccooke70

Hi,

Tonight I was pushing the limits of my fuel mileage. I was on my way home and can get gas quite a bit cheaper near my house. I cross the border to South Carolina, and gas goes down .15 - 20 a gallon. I was also interested in the XX miles to empty readout I get in the Sequoia. I was trying to see if it would get to a point where it would give a warning just before you are about to actually run out. I drove mine for 3 - 5 miles while the readout was reading 0 Miles to empty.

Does anyone know what the buffer is ? Is there an additional warning when you actually get very close to running out? (Other than the one when you hit 20 miles to empty. ) Just curious. I don't normally run it that close. I was jst interested to see if it would give an eventual beep or warning. I got to the gas station before it did and was able to put 22 Gallons in it. It must have been close.

Any details appreciated.

I kind of get the drift of what he told you. Basically the six speed was engineered to take advantage of the power on the 5.7L V8. The shifts are programmed to get you quicker to sixth gear providing better fuel economy and less emissions. If you notice the gas mileage is better on the 5.7L than on the 4.7L due to the six speed tranny. The 4.7L uses a five speed.

I've noticed the same problem. The fuel capacity of the Sequoia is 26.4 gallons so you weren't even close to running out of gas. My guess is that Toyota will need to reprogram the fuel warning indicator.

Noise from glove box when everything is off by tsfan

I found this weird thing from my brand 08 sequoia.

After I turned the key to power on position without actually turning on the egnine, so I could use all the electronic functions such as bluetooth. Then I heard a constant noise from the passenger side, like from somewhere inside or behind the glove box. The noise sounds like a fan is running or wind blowing. I double checked to make sure my audio is completed off, but the noise is always there.

After I turned the key to off posisiton, the noise is gone.

Anyone has similar experience? Any tips?

I'm not sure if the sound you're hearing is the same as mine but here's one thing to check. I have an '08 Platinum Sequoia which has both heated and air conditioned front seats. There must be a fan somewhere in the seats that pushes either cold or heated air through the perforations in the seats. I found that there was a noise that was rather annoying and couldn't figure it out until I turned the temp controlled seats off or at least to a lower setting.

I'm not sure if the Limited's heated seats work the same way as the Platinum however its rather easy to check. Try driving with the radio off and the front seats set to the highest heat setting and see if you hear the sound. Next try putting the setting to the highest air conditioned setting. Last, try driving with both front seats set to 0 (off).

You'll know right away if the sounds you're hearing are coming from the fan in the seats. Good luck.

Let me guess.....Ballantyne area in South Charlotte? Shell station at the corner of Johnston and Hwy 160.

Can't find my Sequoia by penaddict1

I've been trying to buy a 4x2 Limited Sequoia for over a week now but no dealer can find a truck with the options and color that I want. I live in Souther California. I did not think it's this hard to find one with Pyrite mica, nav, rear entertainment and middle bench seat. The closest dealer that has this truck is in Nevada. Most Sequoia that I see in the dealer lots come with bucket seats in the middle.
