Follow-Up Test: 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata PRHT - After putting a quick thousand miles on a 2007 Mazda MX-5 Power Retractable Hardtop (PRHT), we think the company's estimate of a 20-30-percent take rate on this option is going to prove low (more)

Does anyone know what the exact changes are for 2008? Someone mentioned in another thread that the tan interior color may be changing for '08. Anything else known?

Driver's seat height adjustment and 6-disc CD changer standard on Touring and GT models... Slight price increase as always...

Hi aviboy97,
I've been looking for a PRHT and it's definitely clear that the demand far out weighs the supply. There's a dealer in Northern Calif who has two equipped the same except that one has chrome wheels. Neither one has Premium Pkg.2 and they are asking $8990 over MSRP for one (with chrome wheels) and $4995 over MSRP for the other. There is at least one other dealer who had one that he was asking between $4-5,000 over MSRP for, but at least I got to test drive that one. I don't mind paying MSRP though I usually don't, but I'll never pay more than MSRP. I definitely want one after having test driven both the rag top and hardtop - hardtop is alot quieter.
It sounds like you are a dealer - are you in Calif. by any chance? Also do you know whether Mazda will be producing more PRHTs in 2008 since the demand is so high? I called one of the customer assistance numbers at Mazda corporate in Irvine today to ask if there would be more PRHTs available in 2008 and the guy said he didn't have that information. Not too helpful. Any information you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Not in my neck of the woods, the great NW (not the Canada great NW).

06's soft tops were selling at invoice after a couple of months and new Miata's can be had for $5k off sticker. PRHT's were limited, and dealers seemed to be getting closer to sticker. Not many 07 PRHT's left.

Let's keep something in mind: just because a dealer is asking for $8990 over MSRP, doesn't mean anyone will pay that. I seriously doubt any sane buyer would pay that much.

It's just that, an asking price. They're "fishing" for a sucker. If we knew the actual transaction prices that would be meaningful.

2007 MX-5 PRHT Touring, do they exist? by zoomx5

Has anyone actually seen or purchased a 2007 MX-5 PRHT Touring model? I've physically checked all the dealers in the St Louis area and all I can find are heavily optioned GT's PRHTs. I've also checked several major metro areas on Mazda's website, to no avail.

Any input would be appreciated.

When I was shopping several months ago, I saw the 2007 MX-5 PRHT Touring in the inventory of several dealers.

Any Mazda dealer has access to the entire inventory in the country and in transit. I arranged to purchase my 2007 MX-5 PRHT Sport while it was still on the boat to the US and headed to a dealer in a different state from where I live. A local dealer did an exchange.

I don't believe I ever said that. But, I may have

We just got our first 2008 PRHT, and yes, sold at MSRP! We don't even bother with ADM's, it just pisses people off. I am more then happy with MSRP.
