Follow-Up Test: 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata PRHT - After putting a quick thousand miles on a 2007 Mazda MX-5 Power Retractable Hardtop (PRHT), we think the company's estimate of a 20-30-percent take rate on this option is going to prove low (more)

I don't see any difference with the PRHT between models.

I'm just bummed the Sport doesn't come with the optional suspension package anymore.

I decided to spend the extra $$$ on the suspension package. Every article I read said the upgrade was well worth for the $500 extra cost.

I did look at your Mazda website and did not see any specifications on the interior roof of the hard top. You are probably correct about all hard tops being the same quality, but I am still wonder if there is a ceiling cloth interior/insulation that comes with all retractable hard tops.

I also think Mazda should offer the option of leather seats for the Sport. I belive you can only get leather on the Grand Touring. It will be interesting to see the the 07 hard top version of the Mazda competes with the Saturn Sky and the Solstice. My guess is the long term quality (of Mazda) will help it far outsell both American made cars.

I'm pretty sure the roof is insulated (padded).
I was one in Plano, TX the dealer. I e-mailed Mazda the same question.

"I'm just bummed the Sport doesn't come with the optional suspension package anymore."

Mazda switched the Touring and Sport models from last year.

This years Touring is last years Sport, and vice versa.

When pre-ordering a MX-5 how long before it is shipped? by stopandgo

How long does it takes Mazda to build and ship a MX-5 (07) once an order is placed? Dealers seem to be up in the air on delivery dates and I would think they would have a better grasp of when a new MX-5 would hit their lot for buyer delivery. Would normal turn around time be 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, etc. I guess it gets down to supply and demand but I would think Mazda could give any dealer a estimated time of shipment once an car order is placed?

Just put down a deposit on an 07 PRHT today. I was able to get $1300 discount by ordering now for Apr delivery---I'm in Canada so I don't need it before then!
Anyone have any comments with regards to getting front air dam/side extensions/rear skirt. It's an automatic and more of a "third car for summer fun" for my wife and I than a race car.

Can't wait for next summer!

I spoke to a dealer yesterday re: the hardtop grand touring model. 3 months from order to receipt of car.

I think it would be better to go back to MX-5 2006+.

Looks like traffic is down since that change.
