Article comments for Comparison Test: Small All-Wheel-Drive SUVs - We've gathered three such vehicles for this comparison: the all-new 2006 Toyota RAV4, the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and the 2007 Mazda CX-7. It'd be uncomplicated to call these three "mini SUVs," but when they're loosely based on midsize sedans Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and Mazda 6, it'd be more correct to call them midsize crossovers. I have my own anecdotal examples I could offer, but unless you have some persuasive studies to link to, I'm not buying it (I may not even agree with a "persuasive" study, lol). I just finished weaving a rag rug this morning and now I'm going to go play with my table saw. Hey, mopeds are fun to drive as well, that don't make'em motorcycles . Regardless, I threw it out there, and I'll stand by it, Mazda CLEARLY went after the women buyers with that add, and it clearly turned me off to the car, and they pulled it VERY QUICKLY, oh well??? You see that commercial, and it changes your interest in the car (you no longer want to purchase it). Doesn't that mean the commercial actually worked? If Mazda was trying to make women buy that car, then you were not their target audience for that commercial. If the commercial was then yanked off the air, perhaps the Mazda folks felt it was a mistake to try to only attract women in regards to that vehicle. Which is weird, because money has no gender; whether it comes out of my bank account or my husband's bank account, it's still money. So I'd think Mazda was being foolish. Everyone sees the advertisements; the effect may vary by viewer, obviously...I've seen the CX-7 commercial where 2 guys are admiring the car and the driver turns out to be a woman; it had no impact on me, or my husband. As a matter of fact, prior to seeing that ad, my husband joked that when his car payments are done on his Forrester this December, perhaps he'd take a look at the CX-7! (which he won't'; he wants some time w/o car payments). In any event...I have limited knowledge of the psychological aspects behind advertising, but I would say Mazda hit the bullseye with you - you don't want the car due to their advertising! Their ad agency should get a raise. I'm curious as to your vehicle; I hope, though, that it brings you pleasure and that it was well-worth every penny you paid for it. After all, that's all that matters.
