I have version 6.1 of the DVD and the "joystick" version (i.e. not touch screen) of the Nav. system.

Here is how you do it:

You have to accept the initial warning first, then you follow the steps below (at any time, even while driving).

1. Press "Menu" button
2. Select "DVD", this will show you the version of the DVD.
3. In the joystick, press the arrows in this sequence.
a. Up
b. Down
c. Up
d. Down
e. Left
f. Right
4. You should now have the "Service" menu on the screen.
5. Go to override and HOLD the select button down until it changes color (maybe it beeps too, I have sound turned off so I don't know).
6. Press the "Back" button

This will allow you to enter addresses while driving and all other options normally greyed out. The procedure must be repeated every time you start the car, but it only takes a few seconds.

I hope someone finds this information useful, just remember, dont do this while driving, it is for the passenger.

(If this has already been posted I apologize, but I really could not find it anywhere else.)

I have the same issue, moving to Germany (Grafenwoehr) next month with my 2007 Camry XLE and need to get the GPS updated. I tried the SCIS link but all I got was a red screen. Where should I look to price (find, even) these GPS discs?

2002 Camry Navigation by iujonny

I recently took my 2002 Camry to the dealer to get the catalytic converter replaced. When I got it back, the Navigation touch screen would not work. It powers up and is on, but it will not let you select "i accept" at the warning screen. The touch screen will not do anything. The dealer told me that there is nothing they can do, that they did not cause it to stop working. I have never had a problem with the navigation up to this point. I don't want to spend $4,000 to replace it on a 2002 car.

I am wondering if there is a way to reset this? Are there any other things I can try that might correct this?

Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

First, what is not working? AM, FM, CD, cassette, motorized panel or just navigation? IF it is just the navigation portion of the system the navigation computer must be replaced. The dealership can order a remanufactured unit (1 year warranty) to replace the failed unit in your vehicle from Denso.

IF it is audio related then the unit in the dash must be replaced. The model number of the unit in the dash is 1700XX; I cant remember the last 2 digits. For this unit, the dealership can order a remanufactured unit from Fujitsu Ten or FTEN.

I hope this will help.

2010 Camry Navigation System by leoyellow

Does anyone else have this problem? I have a new Camry and and it only displays the map at all times and nothing else. It will not just display say for instance the radio stations (audio) at all times. It automatically just goes off if it is not in the map mode. I hate this. I even asked at the dealer and he said it is for safety reasons. I would not have gotten the navigation system if had know this. I do not like driving around with a map on at all times, if it is not needed, nor do I like driving around with a blank screen. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

You can turn it off easily. Tap Display and select "off" which blanks out the Nav screen

Thank you so much for responding, but I have tried that. When I select off in the Nav screen, the screen goes blank. Even if I press the Audio button, it only displays the radio stations for 20 seconds and then goes blank. I am wondering if there is a way to override that and just have the Audio always displayed when nothing else needs to be displayed. i.e, bluetooth, backup camera, etc. or is the system defective.

leoyello, try this......Press info button.....press screen settings......at the top it will say "transition from audio to nav etc"......press off....press ok....now the screen will stay most places you leave it,for example, am, fm1, fm2, etc.....have fun and enjoy the nav system....
