How can you tell it's two years old? Is it two versions behind the current one?

Reuse of Toyota Nav CDs

I have a navigation CD from my 2006 Camry. The Camry was totaled, so I thought I'd let my spouse have the CD since his is from a 2005 Avalon. Since the CDs are made for Toyota cars I don't think that he should have a problem using it. Any thoughts.

I know but how can you associate the version # with a date to know that it's two years old? All I see is a version #.

Unfortunately that won't work. The disks are not compatible. The Avalon system is different than Camry. However you could probably sell it on ebay.

Mine is version 2002...so it would be a big improvement!

After reading the responses here, I talked to the lady who sold me my car back in 2002, she is usually very good and very responsive. She called me back: she could not get a straight answer from the Service Department either, as far as what would be involved in slipping the new disk in for my navigation system. However, she said she ordered the disk...none in stock at Modern Toyota in Winston-Salem. I have now waited two weeks, still no call.
Does anyone have a clue why this is becoming such a hassle?
Does anyone know what is involved--clearly Modern Toyota does not.

If you have a 2002 LC you need 00110-DVD07-CY to update your navigation system. Any Toyota dealer can order the DVD map disc update. Lastly, call around for best pricing.

I have been dealing with the same problem for about six months. I purchased a 2007 Camry while in the US but now live in Germany. I was wondering if you have found a solution yet. It's a shame to have an excellent navigation system that cannot be used while I am in Europe. I would be interested in hearing from you or anyone else that can be of assistance.
