I have gotten nothing but runaround from my local dealer (ditto for Toyota 800 Customer Service number...they referred me back to dealer) Question 1: When will the new updated version be available and at what cost. Nobody can give me anything but vague answer. Question 2 Can I just buy the disk in put it in myself, or is this a dealer only process. Question 3 Is is worthwhile to update my onboard GPS or does it make more sense to give up and buy portable system from Garmin or someone |

Replying to: christine27106 (Nov 16, 2007 1:01 pm) As for whether or not it's worth it... the question is what kind of problems are you are having? If you are missing roads and POIs (as I'd expect with a map disk that old), then I would think the system would be dramatically improved. My understanding is that the dealer sets the retail price so call around to different dealers and look for the best price. |

I recently purchased a 2007 Camry SE with a navigation system. The system was equipped with a navigation disc that was 2 years old. Checking with Toyota, I was advised that the disc was upgraded every year, obviously that is not happening. Even the 2008 nav systems that I checked were out of date, making the disc three years old. In contacting Toyota, I was referred to the dealership, and ultimately told me that there was nothing they would do. I was advised by Toyota and the dealer that the new disc came out the first of November and could be upgraded for a cost of $250. Bottom line, if you want a navigation system for your vehicle, invest in a good Garmin system fro a lot less money. |
