message #9,10,11 in this forum has instructions.

I replaced radios all the time on late 90 Camrys and it sounds like the procedures are the same.

Use a screwdriver with tape covering the tip and pry up on the edge of the plastic trim around the back edge of the console gear shiter, left and right side. Then work around the rest of the piece until it comes out completely pops up. Next remove the 4 bolts that hold the radio in place. You need a 10mm size socket with a ratchet or a Phillips screw driver will work if you press hard.

Let me know if this is good info or not. When I see a 2004 I'll know if this info is the same for a 97 removal.

Is the jbl option worth it or could I do better with an aftermarket speaker/amp setup for around the same price? I'm looking for a refined quality, not boomy sound...thanks

I don't have the diagram handy, but I can tell you the wires usually without stripes are power on, power accessory, power lights for face plate.

Id would buy a cheap voltmeter from Radio Shack, $4.00. Hook it up to the wires one at a time and go through the positions on the ignition key, and the power from the interior light fuse for the lights on the radio.

Car volts are not harmful you can put your hands on the battery post, Neg. and Pos. and you won't get shocked.

I have a spare radio but haven't trouble finding the right connector for it so I can use it in my old car, and wire it up to the the wires that are there.

JBL/Audio Set-up Question by Karenls1956

I just took delivery on my 2009 Camry XLE V-6 with the Navigation system and JBL. How do you keep the radio stations displayed on the screen so it doesn't disappear in 10 seconds? I have searched the manuals and internet without a hint of how to do this simple task.

Also I am having a problem finding the "sweet spot" setting up the stereo sound and was wondering how others set it up. I know it's a personal preference...but I prefer hearing all speakers.

Thank you!

It sounds like you've got a defective system. I own a 2008 Camry with the JBL system and the radio station is always displayed.

Camry XM Text not scrolling by amorrow0

I have the Camry XLE JBL head unit with dealer installed XM radio and the text for artist and selection does not scroll sideways to expose the full information.
8 of the 10 characters that can be displayed at once seem to load and no more.

Is this the normal behavior of that unit's display?

Clarion on 2008 Camry LE by maninveil

I have recently bought a Clarion DXZ585USB for my 2008 Camry LE. I have never installed an aftermarket stereo unit before and the Clarion manual ask me to have everything prepared before tear up your dashboard.

So my question is, do I need to buy something else before I can start? Like some dash kit and wiring harness?

Thanks for any information!

That is a question that would be better asked on the Clarion website, since they're the ones making the aftermarket stereo.

Given the integration with the steering wheel keypad switches and the wheel speed sensors/combination meter, personally, you wouldn't find me tearing apart the dash to install a different radio. There are 6 different fused circuits feeding the radio circuitry (or items/devices that are input to the radio circuitry). I'd hire a professional shop to install their branded/supported radio that they assure will work with the vehicle yr/brand/model/trimlevel/existing radio option wiring, if I absolutely HAD to have a different radio.

Good luck!
