What is this discussion about? Acura Legend, Acura RL, Sedan

Article comments for Generations: Acura Legend and RL - Acura wasn't a clone of Honda, but a move by the maker upmarket with more luxurious and, hopefully, more prestigious cars — a move made four years before Toyota opened its Lexus stores and Nissan began selling Infiniti products.(more)

As a 38 year old male I'd like to recall my parents Acura's.

All great style and rides, never remember a problem. My favorite Acura is either the 89 coupe (sporty) or 96 RL (great cruiser)

1989 Legend Coupe LS
1993 Legend 4 Door
1994 Legend Coupe LS
1996 RL
2005 RL

I looked to buy a certified RL back in 04 and wound with a V6 accord I just couldnt pay the extra money for an RL and have less features (e.g 6 CD/dual zone AC/less HP). Still LOVE the styling of the last (classic) RL's. I am unimpre$$ed with the current RL, feels heavy and not fast and certainly not $25K better than my accord, just my two cents worth.

Fantastic cars and bulletproof.

Cheers,

JC

Man I feel like a kid in a candy store. I just had to say I am a Legend fan as are most if not all of you and the stars were all finally aligned perfectly and I now am a proud owner of a white 95 LS coupe in ridiculously fantastic condition with 67K original miles. This thing looks like it was never sat in, even the drivers seat. It drives and looks like its 1995 all over again. Is it too soon to say I love my Legend? Whats the rule on this? I'm 35 and been wanting this car since I was 20, if my wife went crazy when I got my 360 and PS3, I may be in for a divorce with this one.

I just returned from Europe and had the very unpleasant experience of seeing my ACURA RL "LUXURY SEDAN" badged as nothing more than a HONDA LEGEND. After I realized it was not a joke by seeing 3 more and looking carefully at the exact interior as my RL, I also noticed that the cars were slapped with a Hertz rental label.

My take (please feel free to opine): Honda/Acura takes the US market consumers for suckers as we are willing to pay a premium price for the EXACT car badged as ACURA, which does not sell in Europe. Rich American suckers. Very insulting. I now plan to sell my "fully loaded" RL and opt for a Lexus - which maintains its distinction as a premium auto equally in ALL markets.
