Article comments for First Drive: 2007 Ford Expedition - Skyrocketing fuel costs have reduced the large SUV market from 1 million units in 2004 to an estimated 650,000 this year. Retaining market share in this climate means offering more and selling it for less. Ford, apparently, has figured this out. (more)

The 2007 Expedition and EL should be at dealerships in the next 2-4 weeks. Let me know if you have further detailed questions. |

The EL looks like it might be a possible replacement for our 04 Excursion Limited. Does anyone know if the 3rd row seat is shall we say "sittable" in the EL, I know the old Expedition had a 3rd row seat that was about an inch above the ground and not really suitable for hauling around 8 adults, if anyone knows please advise. FWIW, the Wall Street Journal compared the Expedition (EL I think) to the Suburban in Fridays edition and gave the edge to the Ford, primarily because of the ride quality and the smooth trans. On looks alone the Sub won out. Never thought I'd see the day a Ford truck rode better than a chevy...... |

Dealers did themselves, the Excursion, and Ford in by refusing to negotiate on the vehicle, especially diesel equipped models. Proof of this is how fast they disappeared from lots locally when Ford went to employee pricing in 2005. |

Although, I have the XL Denali so rarely do I need to have the third row fold down. What I hate about the Expy is the cheap plastics used in the interior and especially the seats. This was the first vehicle I ever purchase where I couldn't stand the new car smell. It smelled like a pool liner. Also hated that the brakes through so much brake dust out. Had the pads replaced at no charge though. I like the looks of the new Expy but I would choose air suspension like I had in the 2000 Expy. Along with the Denali, it was the best riding vehicle I ever had. All Ford has to do is make the interior a lot nicer and catch up to GM and Chrysler in the Horsepower department and I'm sold. |

After test driving what GM has to offer, I cannot wait for this to arrive at the dealers. Does anyone know when these will arrive at the dealers? I thought they would be in showrooms by now. Thanks |
