Window Sun Screen by bigbear54

Has anyone else purchased the MAZDA 5 front window sun screen? I did and am not happy with it. After the sun shines on it for a few ours it buckles up and falls on the dash, seems the window is so big and the screen is not designed correctly or the material is not strong enough to matain its orginal form, just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem, I am also having the same problem with my MAZDA 3.

When you put the window sun screen up, fold down the two sun visors to hold it in place. It works for me.

I agree. I have the same issue - the shield is 34 inches long and close to 48 inches wide, and it's just not stout enough around the perimeter. Even with the sinvisors down, it still goes limp. It was certainly not worth the $35.

Well if you are into saving money I am sure enough cardboard and some aluminum foil you can make your own. Go to a truck stop I bet they have some big ones,

I saved the foil sun screen from my previous SUV and it fits great on the 3's windsheld (surprisingly). I definitely recommend put the down the two overhead sun visors for further support. My foil screen is a generic brand sized large that was $9.99 when I bought it two years ago.

Does the sunscreen fold up small enough to fit in the glove box?

Both sun screens are very large and very hard to manage even when rolled up, I figure I wasted 80.00 getting one for my 5 and one for the wife's 3, I wrote to Mazda and got the standard reply thanking me for my concern and that was that, I wont by another one from MAZDA again, SAVE YOUR MONEY !!!!!!!

I was just heading to the Mazda dealership to buy a $40 sunscreen when I read the posts above. Instead I went to Walmart and purchased a Magic Shade Sunshade (super jumbo) for <$10. It works great. It comes in two pieces and each piece fits nicely on the dash to cover the entire window. Each piece is held nicely in place by the sun visors. They fold into a small 12" disc that fits under the driver seat. It was a little tricky learning how to fold it up while in the car so we practiced a couple of times in the living room and now my whole family can fold them up easily in an instant while sitting in the car. Glad to have saved the $30 and am real happy with the result.

My Magic Shade experience by 01le

I had a Magic Shade for my M5 but the craziest thing happened to it. After using it for two months and thinking it was the best thing, it started getting stuck right where the windshield and dash meet. The Magic Shade fell apart from me trying to get it unstuck on several occasions. The very last time I tried to free it, the shade completely tore off from the flexible frame. I never forced the Magic Shade hard into the dash/windshield area at all. Maybe I just have a quality control issue with the fitment of the dash and windshield. I will have the dealer check it when I go for my first oil change at 3,000 miles.

Shame to hear your screen got stuck. I have been using them for years and my first one i bought years and years ago is still going strong on my other car ( way too small for mazda screen - and that car is 1983) I bought a new one for my mada 5 in may 2005 and it is still like new.
