My 2009 Compass sunroof just leaked again today from my map light. I just went to the dealer to show them the problem, hoping they will not tell me that they can not duplicate the problem when I bring in my car for the service next Tuesday! But after reading maryoregan's posting I am also going to try the same thing (even though my car is only 7K miles today and still under warranty). If it works I am going to cancel the appointment. Incidentally, I did I see one time, when the sunroof was open, a huge dap of lubrication grease on the sunroof metal glide and I bet it is this grease that is clogging the drain hole right now.

My 2008 Jeep Compass is in the shop as I write for the leaking sunroof (3rd time). The first time it was under warranty. 2nd time Chrysler paid. This time they tell me it's the gasket and that all I have to pay for is the $75.00 part. OK. I realize sunroof are going to leak and I will pay this $75.00 part. But is this going to be an annual or semi-annual occurrence? Oh, and this April when I had the car inspected, had to replace the tierods. Two years old. Everything else I've liked about the Jeep but I too thought tierods after only two years was odd.
#110 of 192 Compass stalling out immediately after tanking up
Nov 07, 2010 (3:34 pm)
The last 3 times i have filled my 2007 Compass up with gas (only tank up about once every 3 wks), it stalls out within one minute of leaving the gas station. Has happened on the move and also stationary at red light. Only happens immediately after tank-up and gives me no problem until the next tank-up.
(BTW, i concur with the many discussions about lacking power, surging, and sluggishness that i have read in theses threads)...

I can tell ya what the dealer might say.......gas cap is not tight. We had a 07 Compass for 4 months and 9,000 miles. We hated it!!! hard plastic, nothing of quality, fit and finish were really something like from a Yougo. The CVT was horrid, mpg was less than 24. We dumped it and bought a Pacific Touring AWD. I can not understand how a large Pacific with a weight of 4,785 lbs gets 26+ mpg when the compass struggled to get 24. The quality between the two is beyond belief.
My advice is sell it before it eats you alive.
#112 of 192 2007 jeep compass - mines junk
Jan 23, 2011 (7:15 pm)
I bought a 2007 jeep compass back in november of 07'. The issues I've been having with the car are endless and my warranty is up the the dealerships could care less about my issues. So far I've had to replace ball joints, endless amounts of tires I think in the last 3 years that I've owned it ive been through about 4 or 5 sets, I replaced my front passenger axle, the suspension is shot, everything is just rusted to crap and now the rear end of the car is making this noise that I dont even know how to explain? Sounds like a helicopter you can barely hear yourself think in that car.. Does anyone else have or had these issues? Im to the point where I don't want the car any more I have a 1 year old to care for and the car is costing me more than she does. Any suggestions would be helpful as to what I could possibly do to fix the car

I bought my 2007 compass in november of 07 also. This car is the worst vehicle I have ever owned! At 20000 miles I had all the tie rods replaced, 2 control arms and some other parts. My map light leaks. Now my car sounds like a diesel truck! I was told it was the pulley's and after having them replaced it still sounds like a semi! The dealer said it's my alternator. I have never heard an alternator make noise like this. My tires have to be checked often because somehow the lugs come loose. I cannot believe there was never a recall on this car! I will NEVER buy another one again.

#117 of 192 2007 jeep compass trannmission BAD

I am the original owner of a 2007 Jeep compass. The warranty ended 3 years/36000 mi. I currently have 42000. The scheduled maintenance for the transmission isn't due until 60K. About two weeks ago the front started to make a grinding noise. I took it to the dealership to see whats up. They said its the transmission, they tore it apart which cost about a $1000 and said the reduction gear went bad. And unfortunately they don't make replacement parts for their crappy transmissions. So it needs a new one which costs around $5000. I called chrysler and complained, I ended up getting a case number. The case work said if there are no signs of neglect that they might pay 50% or maybe more. As of right now I have no car to drive, the case worker will not return my calls. The local transmission shops will not even touch these cvt transmisions. From what i'vee read there seems to be alot of problems with this transmission in the 2007 compass. Chrysler acts like they know nothing.
