Replying to: jenster373 (Feb 26, 2009 10:42 am) I think mine is 3000 lbs with a 2 inch square reciever. I've got a three ball hitch, and have made a cargo carrier that comes in handy ocassionally. Also the hitch ball makes a good hook up for a nylon strap for pulling others out of the ditch. Pulled a 2500 Diesel Dodge pickup (4WD) out of the ditch. He was suprised that I had a 20' strap, shackle, and got him out in one pull. My wheels were on clean pavement, and I was in 4WD low range. I should have left him there, he was drunk.   Regards Bert

Most miles are highway and I do home health that is why I want to get a/c fixed the shocks are still the original ones. But since my first message was sent My boyfriend had a wreck not his fault but I have driver side damage but nothing to cry home about. Well my question was what do think a good price for a/c would be and i also need to know about the egr valve was replaced but still causes check engine light is on. thanks. It is a one piece unit, so if you are not able to superglue the button back on, then it's time to start looking on Ebay or your local junkyard. The junkyard (used auto parts) place is not a bad route. For $50-100, you can get a used one with typically a 7-30 day guarantee. This unit is real easy to replace. There is a piece of moulding that pulls off, then there's a few screws and a connector or two (including the antenna connector, and the whole thing pops out. Any one who is good at putting in a car stereo can do this for you, if this is not your thing.   I suspect that a new unit would set you back about $300, but you can check around on the internet for a lower price from an out-of-state dealer. No dealer within 45 miles and the one that is closest has incompetent staff in the service department (for example, after the 30K oil change, I noticed the next week that my metal shroud under the oil filter was missing and had to raise hell to get them to replace it). That coupled with this dreadful economy, has me doing as much DIY repairs as possible. The new service manual is very helpful in that regard, as are your posts!

Did a nice job at a reasonable price. Model number is 2382-01-385, rated to 5000 lbs GW. It's labeled with the U-haul sticker, so I am not sure who the real manufacturer is, but it works well.

Replying to: decababy (Mar 02, 2009 2:57 pm) Since this is a worldwide forum, I couldnt hazard a guess as to what an A/C replacement would cost you. If you live in Florida, it will be a lot less than in California or New York, but the price will vary. So, you will need to check around and get more than one price. Again, ask around and also check with a shop that specialize in just auto A/C repair, as they could be cheaper. It's not a difficult swap out. The dealer's price is liable to be the highest, though.   As for the C/E light, if you live in the US, you can take your car to Autozone and one of the sales assistants will hook up a scan tool to your car for free and tell you what the code is that is causing the C/E light to stay on. You can then post the code here for us to comment on, or do your own research on Google.   If it turns out to be a code related to the EGR valve, which you said you replaced already, BEFORE you pay to replace it again, be aware that you can remove it and clean it yourself (which fixed my EGR without having to replace it and I have used it for 50K miles since without a problem!). There are two bolts and one connector to get it loose, which is easy. If it has a lot of hard black carbon on it, you can soak it in engine parts cleaner, or some acetone, and use a small wire brush to get the gunk off of it. If that doesnt work, you can always buy a new one, but they are not hard to clean and it seems silly to replace something that CAN be cleaned... the gunky buildup comes from using cheaper brands of gas in my opinion. I have used BP or Shell since with no problems, and the price is only about 1-2 cents more than the really cheapo gas.   Hope that helps.

I Have a 02 axiom 4wd with 28K miles. Does anyone know if there is a cabin filter that can be changed. I park under a lot of trees and when I turn the ac on a lot of dust comes from the vents. Hope you like your Axiom - it's a unique and cool vehicle, in spite of all its flaws. Mine sold new for about $25K. I have an 02 2WD Axiom and the workshop (service) manual. There is no cabin filter whatsoever. Outside air feeds directly into the blower motor according to the chapter on the HVAC system.   Odd that there is no filter, considering it is made in the same plant as the Subarus in Indiana, yet the subarus have replacement cabin filters. So, you may want to get one of those canopys from King Canopy (which is what i have) to keep out the leaves, dust and debris. Living in Florida, I have never even had a mold problem with my Axiom, and I would notice it, too, as I am highly allergic to mold.
