i have a 2003 Axiom. The red "up" button for the heat control will not stay put. Anytime i hit a bump in the road it will fall off. Is there anyway to fix this without messing anything up short of buying a whole new stereo system. I assume this is all one piece... the stereo system/heat adjustment... correct? Well the Axiom Transmission is pretty good. GM uses the same one in their Cadallic line and other GM cars. It's very reliable. Yes there has been an issue with a side pressure seal, but the problem and solution almost always falls within the 100,000 mile warantee. And if not, it's an inexpensive fix. The transmission is made in France and with a little poking around on the net you can find all of the other vehicles it's used in. I frequently pull a 5' X 8' trailer with up to 2500 lbs of load. REALLY screws up the mileage but the trans takes it all well.   I ran through two sets of Goodyear tyres on my Axiom. Both got about 54K and they were the original tyres the car came with (first set). I just put on a set of LEMANS Pathmaker H/T's. They are a discontinued model (I got a great price) P235 65R17.   I can't believe the difference they made in the ride and steering is even more effortless. Between the shock changeout and these new tires the Axion is finally riding in an acceptable fasion. Lemans probably still makes this type tyre or one close to it and better yet if you can find a set of discontinued Pathmakers (check the age of the tyre and ask for a BIG discount if they are over 2 years old).   Regards Bert

It's a 4L30E, used by GM, BMW, Honda and many postal trucks. Check out the 4L30E on the internet. There is tons of people talking about it, and it's fixes. Replying to: jenster373 (Feb 26, 2009 10:42 am) I think mine is 3000 lbs with a 2 inch square reciever. I've got a three ball hitch, and have made a cargo carrier that comes in handy ocassionally. Also the hitch ball makes a good hook up for a nylon strap for pulling others out of the ditch. Pulled a 2500 Diesel Dodge pickup (4WD) out of the ditch. He was suprised that I had a 20' strap, shackle, and got him out in one pull. My wheels were on clean pavement, and I was in 4WD low range. I should have left him there, he was drunk.   Regards Bert

Most miles are highway and I do home health that is why I want to get a/c fixed the shocks are still the original ones. But since my first message was sent My boyfriend had a wreck not his fault but I have driver side damage but nothing to cry home about. Well my question was what do think a good price for a/c would be and i also need to know about the egr valve was replaced but still causes check engine light is on. thanks. It is a one piece unit, so if you are not able to superglue the button back on, then it's time to start looking on Ebay or your local junkyard. The junkyard (used auto parts) place is not a bad route. For $50-100, you can get a used one with typically a 7-30 day guarantee. This unit is real easy to replace. There is a piece of moulding that pulls off, then there's a few screws and a connector or two (including the antenna connector, and the whole thing pops out. Any one who is good at putting in a car stereo can do this for you, if this is not your thing.   I suspect that a new unit would set you back about $300, but you can check around on the internet for a lower price from an out-of-state dealer. No dealer within 45 miles and the one that is closest has incompetent staff in the service department (for example, after the 30K oil change, I noticed the next week that my metal shroud under the oil filter was missing and had to raise hell to get them to replace it). That coupled with this dreadful economy, has me doing as much DIY repairs as possible. The new service manual is very helpful in that regard, as are your posts!
