I took delivery on June 26, 2012. Experienced CHECk TRANSMISSION warning and also an PO741 error at 300 miles. First trip back to the dealer was a waste of time. They did not find any problems. The error message happened again repeatedly the very next fews day (over the holiday). I took it back on the 5th of July and the dealer has not solved the problem. 15 days of ownership and it has been in the shop for 7 days.
The loaner car, a new MDX also has some weird error messages occasionally and the CD does not work. The navigation system locked up yesterday briefly too.
Acura quality ?????? Things sure have changed since the first Acura Legend.

The score so far on my new 2012 Acura TSX Sportwagon
Days of ownership = 20
Days back at dealership for problem = 12
And I almost chose a Subaru Outback before buying this ......... but decided Acura quality control and reliability would be better. Ha!

Got it back today finally. Drove it a few miles and got the same CHECk TRANSMISSION message and a PO741 error code. The dealer and Acura said it was fixed.
900 miles and going back to the dealer for the 3rd time.

I made a formal request on Tuesday (07/17/12) using Acura's client service procedure for a new replacement vehicle OR a full refund. The response is forthcoming.
The dealer suggested that the transmission may have to be replaced. Not sure if that would correct the problem. I said that is not acceptable on a new car with 300 miles or less when the problem first occurred. They have had the car now 15 days since June 26th.
It is going to be interesting to see how well Acura stands behind their product.

Acura has advised the dealer to replace the transmission. (that might fix it !) I still stand by my request for new replacement car OR full refund. Should have their answer early next week.
It is going to be interesting to see how they handle this. 300 mile on a new car and the trans goes out. They expect me to keep a "refurbished" car.
Attorney on stand by for legal action.

brings back memories of a 03 hyundai sonata we had. It had less than 100 miles on it when the transmission locked up. The dealer would plug the car into the computer which would show codes-they would replace the parts. It would be good and then the transmission would lock up again. At about 4,000 miles Hyundai Corp. rep. came to the dealer and authorized to replace the transmission. I never trusted that car so we eventually traded it for a elantra with manual transmission. That car had over 100K problem free miles when we traded it for another sonata but with manual transmission.

They replaced the transmission and drove it an additional 400 miles to test it.
I am still waiting to see if Acura is going to stand behind their product and reputation by replacing the car.
Here is a summary so far:
Miles on car when problem first occurred: 298
Days since delivery = 34
Days back at dealer = 27
Miles driven by service department = 644
Miles driven by owner = 735 (not counting trips back & forth to service department)
Trips Back to Dealer = 3. ( not counting the trip back to get a copy of the service invoice)

In NJ, 20 days at dealer is an automatic lemon.
It takes time to fill out the paperwork but, once there is a court date they will be calling you to buy back the car.
It is hard to believe that car companies need to have legal action to do the right thing.

Acura has agreed to replace my TSX with another vehicle. The paperwork was started today 08/01/12.
I am happy they have decided to support their product. They have been very professional and understanding.
