Replying to: ick9dk (Aug 26, 2006 9:05 pm) The Sky Redline has a 260 hp 2.0 liter direct injection turbocharged engine. Plus it comes standard with some features that you would have to pay extra for on a base model. |

| I've read many of the comments re: the sky redline. havn't had the brake not working problem. I think owners should have input to the factory, but to expect the car you bought to have more trunk space, or more storage space in the cockpit is asking a it much. as for the comment the redline is not in the same league as the miata I take issue. I know they have added a 6 speed transmision. It was nedded, I have owned one and always felt like it couldn't get out of its own way. It is not nimble. The redline is not nimble, I own an '05 Mini Cooper S that could be considered nimble. I have driven the sky pretty fast through the canyons of Utah an it is much more confidence inspiring than either the Miata or the mini particularly at 100+. The Miata needs...100 more HP, 20 lbs less flywheel, and a better rear suspension to keep up with the sky redline. | |
| I'm contemplating buying a new Sky. I live in the midwest and was wondering if anyone could tell me how the Sky handles in winter weather. Can you drive it? Or do you need to park it? Thanks. | |

Buy the car! I live in a canyon in Utah and park it for the winter. I wouldn't sell it for anything, and love it when the weather is nice. I drove lots of cars before buying it and it fit the best. I'm 6'3" and long legged, couldn't fit in a Ferrari I could afford (328 348 355), nor the Lotus Esprit. But your question is regarding winter weather handling. It is light in the rear (48% weight), torque is high at the low end, tires are fat. It will not handle well in ice, slick snow, and probably will end up getting hurt. Get it anyway. Buy some foo foo car (used front wheel or 4wd) and leave your girlfriend in the garage when it is naughty out. I think these things could well become collectors items, I'm not well to do nor a collector. All of the negative things written about them are somewhat limited in their scope. They are fast, if set up right handle well, and pleasant to drive. Economy is very good. Averaged 37 mpg over 110 mi. of hilly road. Get it, store it |
