Article comments for Full Test: 2007 Saturn Sky - It is a beautiful sight — beautiful enough to steal customers away from Mazda MX-5 Miatas and Honda S2000s. But as hours in the Sky turn to days, beauty again fades into questions. (more)

This is typical GM. I remember reading in Car and driver back in 83 about this mid engine super car called the fiero that was to have 200 HP and be a real sports car. Instead to beat toyota to the punch with the MR2 they release a 4 cylinder piece of garbage that people still talk about today.

This is american business, short term thinking get the money now. This is why Honda and Toyota are superior. Honda and Toyota also don't play these games with rebates and zero down financing. Check the rebates and incentives section on edmunds how many do you see under Toyota and Honda. Now common sense for GM would have been to put the Solstice/sky in the affordable range at the dealership, not a 12,000 mark up that they are doing across the country. I just bought an S2000 two months ago. I drove the Miata , S2000 , used MR2 Spyder , and the Solstice . The GM dealer was so cheesy telling me how the Solstice was selling at 12k over sticker yet they had 4 on the lot again more games. Honda and Toyota treated me with respect no games straight numbers and Mazda was so-so. The fish rots from the head down toyota and Honda don't release anything until it is fully ready GM and other U.S. manufacturers just seem to throw things out there and fly by the seat of their pants.

To chime in on some of the things you said here check this article.
I do recall about it being an 'economical car' when it first came out and do remember about the heat issues it had.
I also remember about how scaring it was to drive in snow from a couple of friends of mine who owned them.

The Pontiac Fiero is a mid-engined sports car that was built by the Pontiac division of General Motors from 1984 to 1988. Today, the car has a cult following making it a prime example of a cult car.

I own a 2007 Sky with automatic. The car is gorgeous and gets attention everywhere I go. I've only got about 600 miles on the car at this point.

The ride is stiff, but I expected that in a roadster. Other than that I think the car handles well. She's adequate off the line, and more than adequate once you get above 40 mph. The car is noisy, but my understanding was that the "throatiness" was intentional. You can hear the stereo with the top down as long as you keep the windows up. The digital displays, including the radio, are impossible to read in the sunlight, however. Much to my surprise, the seats are exceptionally comfortable; they "fit" me well and are firm yet soft. It takes a bit of adjusting to get the passenger side fender mirror positioned so that it's actually useful. It would be much better if the mirror was slightly larger and/or positioned more toward the front of the car.

The cupholders suck. The two between the seats are so far out of reach as to be useless and the one in the center console on the passenger side is also a reach for the driver and would probably interfere with the passenger's knees if kept open. There seems to be a ton of wasted space in the center console adjacent to the parking brake lever - certainly enough for a little storage cubby and a decent cup recepticle. Maybe someone will come up with an aftermarket attachment that looks decent and works. I think they also could have found some room on the doors (in the armrest) for some small compartments.

Saturn really blew it when it comes to trunk space. I think they could have come up with a shelf for the top to rest on, which would at least have allowed for storange underneath it. Where am I gonna put my golfbag except for in the passenger seat? Also, there's no homelink or compass in the car, which to me are important items.

All in all, a fun summer car that I'm enjoying and glad to own.

I've been browsing this forum for over 6 months, because my dream is to own a Sky Red Line manual. I'm not seeing any recent postings on gas mileage. I tried to give it time for exposure by others, but no one is sharing.

Not that it's of great meaning, cause if you can afford a roadster it shouldn't matter, but I need to know REAL gas mileage from those who already own their "baby".

If my 2005 5-speed Cobalt LS is getting only 27.5 MPG with a 150HP inline 4, then I'd be HAPPY with 20+MPG in a 260HP Turbo-4 in a Sky Redline. I mean . . . REALLY!

I don't have a clue what my mpg is. I don't have a redline and I only drive the car for pleasure in good weather with the top down. I suppose if it were my daily driver I'd pay a little more attention. I also own a 1968 Chrysler Imperial convertible which might get 8 mpg with a tailwind. Again, that car is nothing more than a big toy, a Sunday driver, so I don't worry about mpg.

You might want to take a look at the "skyroadster dot com" website and ask your question there. Good luck.

The last thing I'd be concerned out in this car is the MPG's.
Ya buy this car for the convertible feel.
