You purchased an XM Direct wire correct? And did you also purchase the Alpine adapter for radio connect? Thank you for your time - I'd really appreciate your feedback and am TOTALLY excited about purchasing our new HH. Kind Regards Patty and Mike Shinn |

Well, finally. I just happened to check my local dealer last Thursday, at which I was on a waiting list, to see if they were showing any HyHi's on there on-line inventory. Loe and behold, they has a bluestone/ash 2WD actually in stock, but it was a LTD w/NAV (I was waiting on a non-LTD with option pkg. 1). Well, I guess waiting since Jan 05 got the best of me, and now I'm driving what is now MY new Highlander Hybrid. It is a good chunk of change more than I wanted to spend, but in the end, I'm just a gadget geek anyway, so I took the plunge. I've only driven it about 150 miles, but so far I'm averaging about 28 MPG (mixed driving, expected much less, given the break-in period I've read about here). I've been trying all the hyper-mileage tricks I've read too. Seems like the toughest part to that is dealing with hills (the hills here in San Antonio are pretty small, but the 2WD version doesn't seem to have enough ummph to get up a very minor grade on just electric without slowing considerably). I seem to recall reading here in the past about an undocumented procedure to turn off the annoying warning screen that pops up every time you turn on the NAV system. I searched this forum for it, but I could only find the procedure to enable the POI buttons when moving. Could anyone post the link to that info? Maybe I just need to use a better keyword in my search. I couldn't be happier with the vehicle. Even after building up very high expectations for this vehicle after reading this forum for so long, I absolutely love this vehicle. Consider me a VERY happy buyer.

Howdy, all! I just picked up my silver 2WD HH Ltd with the navigation system on Thursday evening. It was actually on the lot. So far, I've put about 400 miles on it (mostly highway, but also some dirt roads), and I've been very happy with it. Even in that short time, I'm averaging around 27-28 mpg. I learning to drive hybrid style, and I'm playing around with PnG driving. Unfortunately, I don't travel many open roads, so I don't get to do a lot of PnG. However, it is a nice feeling when the ICE cuts off during deceleration or at a stop light and I can think, "I'm pretty much getting this for free." I do want to thank everyone for all the information you have posted on this forum. Many things here influenced my decision to go with an HH. Really, though, the car was the greatest influence. DF |

I have a new HighHy Ltd with 4WD and Nav (love it! about 400+ miles so far, and average of 26.2 mpg) ... but I can't get the vehicle's garage door opener to work, even pressing the button for 10 seconds or more. (It was programmed at the dealership, so it's not as if I did it wrong. I also programmed it again after I got home when I saw it wouldn't work.) I did the little test in the manual to see if I have a "rolling" door opener system, and it appears that I do. They have a procedure you can do which would involve tinkering with the opener mechanism on the garage ceiling ... and before I climb up there and attempt all that, I'm wondering if anyone else has done it, how complicated it was, and whether it worked for you (and if you could still use your separate handheld opener). I don't want to screw up the garage door mechanism completely! Thanks in advance!

Hello Highhygirl, The procedure in the manual does work. You just have to find the little (usually red) button on the garage door opener and you'll be set. It took me 2 tries but who's counting. |

I've had our HH for about 2 weeks, and have no complaints about mountain driving. I live in the mtns of western NC, and it has plenty of power for the grades, and going downhill is free! I'm showing an average of 24.5 MPG. The weakest point is the OEM tires; I switched out to Nokian WR's, before delivery, and while they are a little noisier, they feel much more secure, and they are winter rated.
