Same here, I also bought this vehicle because of the "employee" discount and NO WAY would spend 30K on a Grand Prix, regardless of what it does, but having spent, out the door 28K with all but NAVI is a "good price"..That said, this car is going to my daughter in a couple years & I'm getting an SRT charger, in black, that, if you haven't seen 1 in person is a work of art! i do not regret my GXP, but am honest when I say that I can admit there are better cars out there. I feel bad for anyone who missed out on the 2005 GXP, that is the rare one, the one years down the road at car shows the pontiac faithful talk about " how hard it was to find" now that their turning out 100 a day of the 06'

yes you do. open the driver's door when you first walk up to it, ignition off and listen when you get in, they all have it, its a design flaw of the amplifier's remote turn on. it turns on with the activation of the interior light, and goes off the same way when the keys off. I wrote to GM who is aware of the flaw, but because of the " there's no harm that can be caused by it" will not remedy the problem until the "new" GP comes out

I only have one (5 yrs)- she likes the GXP because it is fast. She prefers the visibility of the truck but likes to ride in the fast car. She still uses a booster seat and that is at least as comfortable as the back seat. My wife rides in the back with her and she thinks the back is about the same , maybe a bit more comfy than the previous generation.

"With just over 2,000 GXPs built as 2005s, there certainly were not many GXPs available in some areas of the country."
Where did you find the production numbers I've tried Pontiac twice and first they told me the data would be available end of Sept. Now they say in a couple of months... It seems like a lot less than 2000 were made as fast as they were gobbled up out here.(NW)

Thanks. Anyone else care to comment about how little kids like the back seats of the GXP?

I say this because not long ago on vacation I was -- no kidding -- given a day-long demo with a BMW wagon. I thought it would be cool, but my kids hated it. They were hot -- no AC in the back. They were crabby and sweated out by the time we arrived home.

#463 of 1495 Winter Tires by jjunk

Just picked up my Stealth Gray GXP yesterday and I love it. Got to find a doctor that can cure LeadFootitis....

Trying to plan ahead since I'm in the North East. Has anyone found a cheap wheel good winter tire combo that will fit properly on the GXP?

Look splatsterhound, if a back seat is really important to you, you should probably look elseware.

Pontiac Messed up the practicality of this big car in favor of style, as such the back end drops a bit to make it seem like a coupe, so rear headroom is an issue. The rear glass intrudes into headroom and it seems as if in a bump your head would hit the glass. Its great for tanning, though

If you have three kids, this is probably not the car for you. I'm not sure what GM was thinking, but practicality and sales were not poart of the equation (just kidding) but seriously, they had to offer up a mean V8 to spark interest in this car. I am not saying its bad, its really great, especially with NAV now, but not for kids.

If you want to buy American, then choose instead the new Impala. Its got the same V8, and a better rear seat. They look great too. I would not choose the charger b/c I like American cars, not German posers.

Sorry I cannot post the source - as that would conflict with Edmunds terms of use.
I have found it to be "a usually reliable source". . .

2019 Total GXPs built in 2005MY

232 12U Galaxy Silver
171 26U Bermuda Blue (Bleen)
144 40U White
646 41U Black
67 63U Sport Red
488 77U Dark Cherry
271 88U Medium Spiral Gray

Further, some were internal (Captive Fleet) evaluation vehicles and some likely (white ones) went directly to the Bondurant Driving School.

I don't see "blue green crystal" in the list for the 2019 2005MY GXP's. Any idea why? I know they made them as my 2005 GXP is "blue green crystal".

I have to agree with this post that there are better cars to consider if the back seat is of high importance. I have a six year old and an eight year old. They both have been in the backseat on many occasions. We even took a long trip in it that required them to sit back there for several hours at a time. They had no complaints other than too much sun from the back window. Only way to fix the problem is a sun visor as the owners manual discourages tinting because of the internal radio antenna. The GXP is not our "family car" but since it is sporty they enjoy driving in it.
