Hi, I have a 04.5 4x4 5.9L 6 speed manual 3500 all stock. I had got it new and it now has 43,000ml. In the last 3 yr I haven't dove it a lot, I mainly drive it on long trips and a round town. My question is what is the normal running temp suppose to be? It looks like its running a bit hot lately, at 65 and 70 it use to run at 195, now its at 200 on flat roads not pulling anything and nothing in the bed. when I climb hills it would go up to 200 now it go's to 203. could there be something happening to make it run hotter now? less power and making the turbo run more? The only thing been done to it is change the oil every 3,000ml and have change the air filter with stock and fuel filter 5 month ago. sometimes I don't drive it for like 3 or 4 weeks. Replying to: jeeep (Sep 01, 2009 6:35 pm) I don't know what is causing your problem but my 96 automatic runs at 180 to 185 even at above 100 degree weather. Have you checked your coollant or had it flushed. Also check your hoses maybe you have one that is collapsing.

i have a 2003 dodge cummins 135456 miles been to dealer 4 times with same problem codes po602 po341 told me to change ecm got new ecm throwing out same codes problem?

I recently got a smokin deal on a 07 dodge dually. Had to have the Turbo replaced due to carbon build up. Dodge told me to take it out on the road once a week and run it above 50mph and 2100 rpms for 20 minutes to clean out. I'm not sure I buy this approach. any idea's. Replying to: jarhead1969 (Sep 26, 2009 8:03 am) The dealer advice is essentially correct. I've owned Cummins-powered Rams for over 13 years now, and they can get iffy if they don't work for a living. Remember, this is a medium-duty engine that's available in trucks all the way to class 7 (GVWR up to 65,000 pounds). If you don't load it with either regular highway speeds or substantial cargo weight, you will develop buildup in the engine and turbo. I have a 2008 Ram 2500 6.7 diesel with 60,000 km and about a month ago the Malfunction Indicator Light would come on for a day or so then go off for several days, then it would start all over. I took it into the dealer and they said the fault code for the light indicated that the turbo was losing pressure so they changed the turbo (warranty). Now the light does the same thing but more often, the dealer latest theory is that it is a BS code and has no reason, a clinch in the computer, so they ran a flash program, it still does the same thing, light on for a day, then off..... Has anyone had the same experience and what was the outcome?   Thanks..........ehestdalen

I talked to Mechanic Friend and sounds like the EVR valve is the issue. He had the same issue and ended up replacing that piece

Replying to: donavonk (Oct 05, 2009 3:57 pm) Not sure what transfercase is in your truck, but unless you forced the shift lever, chances are the axles may have a disengage vacuum on it and may be your problem. On older cases the shift forks bend or wear out, usually from lack of oil, so good luck.
