If you have one good one and one bad one, you will see these hard-starting symptoms, even though once running, everything seems fine (the truck can run on one battery once the engine is operating). And the reason the block heater helped is, a warm engine will always start easier than a cold one... but as the batteries continue to lose charge, that won't help either.   Progressively hard starting has always been my cue to get a fresh pair of batteries with my Cummins Rams.   kcram - Pickups Host

Replying to: dignitMike (Dec 09, 2008 8:17 pm) After lots of research and testing, I found that I have only 10 volts coming from the ecm (engine control module) to the intake heater relays. This is not enough voltage to heat the elements. I don't know why. I'v been told that I might have a problem with the ecm.It sounds expensive!

My 4 wheel drive isn't engaging. Just recently the dashboard light would flicker. Then one day it wouldn't come on, but, I could tell that the 4 wheel drive was engaged and working. Is it a sensor problem or a fuse? A year or so ago, I had a strut break through the housing and take out my fuse box & broke some of the wires going in. Could my present problem still be a reprecustion from that incident?   Any suggestions of what to look for would be greatly appreciated. Replies to this message: kcram (Dec 17, 2008 7:37 pm)

i recently put a new engine in my truck. its a high output and the old engine was not. i get trouble codes p0514, p0633, p0192 , p0483 ,and p0480. These came with the new engine. At first it started fine and slowly became harder to start. The last time it started it was turned over for a minute or two. it turned over and sped up with time until it sounded like it was not turning over and not running quit turning over and it started running. left running for the next 12 hours put it in gear and it stalled. now it does not want to start is it the low voltage to fuel sensor p0192 or the skim key not entered p0633 or a combo of everything? i have a 2005 dodge 3500 diesel (auto trans) with what seems to be a unique problem,when i am in reverse or drive with my foot on the brake it still wants to go just like doing a brake-stand. i don't know were to start.

I have been having the same starting problems as "daddyhawkes" with the same model of truck. I have tested my batteries and they are OK! Any other suggestions? Other things to test?

well it started back in april. i was driving back home when it was like i reached over and turned off the key i coasted off the road and waited a minute then hit the key it cranked over for about thirty seconds to a minute then fired up and i was on my way. Put about four hundred miles on it with out a problem then it did it again so i changed the fuel filter. But it kept doing the same thing. took the truck back to the dodge garage but they could not find the problem. So i kept driving it until i went to town which is only three miles from my house and it quit ten times in the three miles. So i took it to another dodge garage where they told me it was the high pressure injection pump. Which cost me over Twenty Two Hundred dollars they said they test drove it and there was no problems. so i went to pick it up started back home got a mile from the garage when it quit again. if anyone could help me out or has had any problems like this one because my patients are running thin and i am falling behind on my payments because of the service bills and it is my work truck Replies to this message: jaysdodge (Jan 21, 2009 8:19 am) rs6309 (Feb 08, 2009 8:27 am) gwt3383 (Feb 08, 2009 3:34 pm)
