I have an '03 3500 that used to do that. Other than a minor annoyance, it never caused any other problems. Avoid taking it in if that is the only problem. Most mechanics nowadays at the dealers i have been to are remove and replacement specialists. Mine no longer does it. It did it for the first 20k miles or so, I now have 104k. Good to go.

Curious does anyone know what the life expectancy of a VP 44 Injector pump for a 2000 3/4 ton Ram 4x4 is.

 Thanks

'98 2500 diesel oil pressure by banderlik

I'm having a problem with my engine loosing oil pressure when stopping at a stop sign etc. especially when it's hot outside and pulling a load, i.e. travel trailer. I'm using 15W-40 oil, oil pressure is 45-50 psi or so when above idle and steady at working rpm's. When I stop at a stop sign, sometimes the oil pressure suddenly drops to zero, the check engine light and warning sounds. If I rev the engine a little, the oil pressure will pick back up again. I'm going to install a direct reading gauge asap to try to isolate the problem to the oil pressure sending unit, but wonder if any of you have had this problem and I'm dreading to suspect the oil pickup tube is either cracked or the attach bolts are loose.. Engine just turned 200,000 miles and uses a qt of oil about each 500 miles.

07 Dodge Ram Diesel Engine Light by kajunkerr

Engine light keeps coming on and dealer cant seem to fix it. They claim it is due to the emissions on that yaer of truck. They change o2 sensor , turbo, clean this and that. I find it interesting that when i fill tank completely up and then run to 7/8 of tank the light comes on religously. It will go off after a bit and then back on at half a tank. I have told dealer this and they claim that is coincidence. Dealer claims they have this engine light problem on a lot of the diesels and cant fix it. All i can do is keep bringing it in so they can clean it and reset computer.

Does anyone have this issue or can help?

Hi there, took delivery of my diesel quad cab four weeks ago, I drive about 20 freeway miles to work each way. Engine light came on at 1422 miles so I called the dealer here and dropped it off two days ago for repairs."> First it took them till today to finally scan it, now they tell me they have to clean egr and replace o2 sensors. Dealer told me it will probably take several days to get to my truck,

I HATE TO TELL YOU BUT YOUR DEALER WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO KEEP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OUT ON THAT TRUCK YOU'VE GOT. IT IS NOT YOUR DEALERS FAULT. IT IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE BLUE TEC EMISSIONS SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO CLOG UP THE EGR AND THE PARTICULATE CATALYST. I HAD THE SAME VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 7 TIMES IN 6000 MILES. I ASKED DODGE TO BUY IT BACK. THEY DID AND NOW I HAVE A 2008 RAM 1500 WITH THE HEMI ENGINE. I'M VERY PLEASED WITH NEW TRUCK. I THINK YOU SHOULD CHECK ON YOUR STATES LEMON LAWS. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET DODGE TO BY IT BACK.

Check with your dealer there is a lenghty TSB to correct the problem now. Further more have the dealer let you know what your percentage of run times are. OldTech since your buy back they have made some strides to correct the problem

I have the same problem with my 2500 diesel ram. It has been in the shop 4 times so far with this last time now being four days and I still don't have it back. If they don't get it right this time I guess I will have to see about the lemon law. Good luck with your veh.

1st of all most problems with the diesels are found to be that the owners are not regenning there vehicles and not checking how far the cat systems are sooted up. Everyone should have gotten a DVD telling them the proper procedures to follow.

Many and I do agree don't realize that the new 6.7 cannot idle for long periods of time. Dodge is working to correct this problem to allow the regenning to work under a different procedure We have fixed 2 so far and so far we have been lucky to correct the problems

How can you tell the difference in the cummings diesels dodge put in the ram 2500 SWB trucks in 2004. I understand there was a midyear change from a
Horsepower rpm. 250 2900 to the 305 2900
Torque (lb-ft) rpm. 460 1400 to the 555 1400
Is there a way to tell by opening up the hood and looking?

If not can you find out from the VIN?
Thanks!
