Sorry to hear about your troubles with your new Dodges. I have an 07 3500 6.7liter cummins with a 6spd manual. I now have approximately 32,000 miles on it. 20,000 miles was stock and the last 12,000 miles with an Edge chip on it. I have had not troubles with it at all! I pull a 34' weekend warrior from California to Minnesota every summer. The truck performs beautifully. I am giving this to one to an employee and will be getting the exact same thing. I am considering an automatic transmission, but with that i will opt for 4:10 gears. Any opinions on this?

Hope your pickups get better, I do love mine!

I have had excellent luck with my new 6.7 liter cummins and 6spd manual trans and 3.73 gears. I need to get another one and am considering trying an auto. But with this, I am thinking of getting 4.10 gears. Anyone have any opinions ?

Gears 1 through 5 of the automatic are very similar to 2 through 6 of the manual (for the additional gear, the manual has the granny low, the automatic has the second overdrive). So if the 3.73s do the job for you with the manual and you don't use the granny 1st very often, stick with the 3.73s for the automatic.

Niknar, I feel your pain. We just got our 02 Dodge 3500 6.7 L out the shop Friday. Teh notoriuos filter got stopped up by going under 60 miles an hour and idling. Anyway, we were going to try the lemon law because in our state if its been in the shop a total cumulative days of 30 then they say they will buy it back..but we only have about 17 under our belt...so we are waiting for the light to come on again or to break down on the side of the highway again and be towed. We haev already consulted an attorney and plan on getting one if this happens again. They said you can use a term called Revoke acceptance. It preyy much gives you the right to reject the contract you signed when you bought the truck because here you are paying so mucha month and you have not received what they promised on their end of the contract. I woudl consult an attorney and tell them your case...it''s free for a consultation. Good luck...

thank you for your thoughts. I just got back from a 600 mile round trip and was really trying to pay attention to RPM & speed. I have 34" tires and at about 70mph i am barely turning over 2000 rpm. With a manual, I can keep it in 6th gear and lug it and it just does awesome. But i am concerned that with an auto, it will constantly be wanting to drop down a gear. Hence my thought for getting 4:10 gears. I think this will only raise my RPM about 200-250RPM which might be nice with the taller 6th gear in the auto.

YOU NEED TO FILE FOR ARBITRATION RIGHT AWAY. INSTRUCTIONS ARE IN YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. YOUR ONGOING PROBLEM IS WORSE THAN I HAD WITH MY TRUCK. DODGE BOUGHT MY TRUCK BACK WITHOUT HESITATION. PUSH THEM HARD AND DON'T TAKE CRAP FROM THEM. LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

Im looking at both ('06's) and was told by a dealer that the Mega Cab gets less mileage than the Quad Cab? I don't see how, both are Dodge Diesels. Any Help?

I have never heard of such a thing. I and my father have owned both and there is no difference. My father currently has an 06 megacab with an edge chip on it and when he watches his speed, he can get 20+mpg.
