Thanks, I had never heard of it..(Fred's). I started with the VW Deisel with air conditioning, in '79.. I purchased it in St Louis, Mo and a couple of months later had to replace it with another, as I had the 1st one was totalled out by a tractor trailer accident. That one lasted me over 100K miles without any problems at all. Then I did a 100K servicing, and had problems from then til I got rid of it about 25,000 mi later. Over all I loved it, especially the mileage I had, for the entire life of the vehicle as I owned it, was in the upper 40's if I remember right. I did much better the 1st 100K mi, that servicing killed everything. At the time I owned it, I was moving from Ill, to FL, to AL, to AR, back to FL., where I finally sold it in 1985.

And what does it have to do with mainstream large sedans comparo? You've already posted the exact same thing in a few other threads, are you now infecting every thread because Hyundai didn't respond to what you wanted to hear?

Exactly what other automakers would have replied here as well. Your Lexus situation was about a purchase decision; it's different here, as it was concerning about future products. So while you didn't get what you wanted to hear, it was the right thing Hyundai did. Companies do this on a regular basis.

Overall very nice, and a huge improvement over the cheapo Nebraska-flat plains of the current Taurus.
The only problem I see here is the chrome surfaces around the gauge pods -- they'd be a guaranteed source of annoying reflections on a sunny day.

Atrractive but BIG design flaws similar to the 2006 - 2009 Toyota Sienna's where there are too many shiny, curved surfaces that cause annoying reflections.

I don't know where you're getting your information regarding Jaguar's reliability ratings...but they're dated at a minimum.
Yes Jaguar used to be known as the Mechanic's Nightmare...but that was prior to Ford.
What Ford has done for Jaguar's quality is nothing short of a full-fledged miracle.
Before you wrongly continue to malign this brand's quality image, I'd suggest you spend a little time 'first' reviewing Jaguar's quality ratings at JD Power.com You will find that under Ford's ownership, the quality of the vehicles has gone through the roof and has bested many far more expensive brands...more than once in the last decade.
You're info is simply wrong based on my ownership experience of my 2003 Jag.

I have a very close relative who had an XKE back in the early 70's and now has an 05 or 06 Jag.....2 completely different animals.... The newer one being inferior to the first. In fact my relative has said on numerous occasions that if they had it to do over again, they never would have purchased thier new Jag ( ford ) ... Just thier opinion..... I can tell you I've driven both and their new jag dosn't have near the feel of the older jag.... That XKE was a running son of a gun not to mention could handle just about any road you threw at it... only major trouble I remember him having with it was carb calibrations.... but other than that one sweet running piece of machine.

I would expect any major company to respond exactly as hyundai did. It results from whackos sending them "ideas" for new cars and then litigating later saying the company "stole" their idea and asking for millions, and there are hundreds of such lawsuits filed yearly against all automakers. I don't think you should take it so seriously, and if you look at sales numbers you'll see that hyundai is already a HUGE player in the US market and hope to grow their lux business. My 2008 azera is the best car I've ever owned in 40 years, and i've owned BMW CADDY Porsche Lexus etc etc. Don't think they are not listening, but a personal talk about it seems a reach. They prefer comment cards emails and the like, but actually meeting and talking to someone about what you want on YOUR car, I can understand their stance completely.It is just not how business has been done for many years. They prefer "demographic pooling". try signing up for one of the many focus groups and specify you want to focus on autos. I participated in 5 focus groups last year, and was paid between $100-250 for each 2-4 hour meeting at a market research company, That's how it is done now.

Lonely edmunds poster sitting at home with nothing to do...likes to critique cars...has opinions that may be valuable someday, altho to whom is currently unknown...secretly yearns to be in focus groups, even tho I, myself, am occasionally unfocused...if you're willing to take a chance on a nice guy, give me a call, 800 555 1212...you won't be sorry...
