#19 of 94 Low Coolant light on Even though Coolant tank is FULL
Jul 04, 2007 (7:20 pm)
I have a problem with my 2001 Mercury Sable LS. The Low Coolant light comes on and I can't figure out why? My coolant levels appear to be right where they should be and my temperature gauge doesn't read hot at all...square in the middle actually. Im concerned that something else is causing the problem and that not getting the problem resolved will lead to other more costly issues. Any suggestions anyone? Need help cause I use this car in my daily commute of 45 miles each day.
#20 of 94 1997 Taurus cold air out of heater
Dec 07, 2007 (12:03 pm)
1997 Ford Taurus "G" 100,000 miles. When turn on heat, get a "bumping" sound in the dashboard and no heat comes out. Last year I would get lukewarm heat out of it and the "bumping" sound. I can eliminate the noise by turning temp control to about mid point in heat mode or a/c mode. A/C works good. But now I need heat.

I have a 2001 Sable that has experienced the same problem. I paid the dealer over $600 to replace the blend door and control module once and the problem came back.
Here's what I found. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for two or three minutes and re-connect. Then try your AC system again. It has worked for me twice now. Good Luck.
#22 of 94 No heat in 98 Taurus

I can only get cold air when the heat is on. I can hear the bumping noise in the dash. It was fairly warm but is now cold. I am thinking I need to work on the actuator and shut that door for a quick fix. Where is it located?

My '01 Sable has done the same thing. The sensor is on the bottom of the reservoir, which is mounted on the passenger side firewall. There are two nuts to remove to access the sensor. It takes about 5 minutes and the sensor can be bought on eBay for under $20, or you can get it at the dealer for a bit more. I did a temporary fix on mine by just unplugging the sensor connector under the reservoir as the light was annoying.
#24 of 94 Selector Switch Problem 97 Taurus?
Feb 21, 2008 (3:34 pm)
On my 97 Taurus, the AC selector switch for heat control has a problem. Everything is fine, but when turned too 100% heat it starts blowing cold air? But when moved back up like a quater of an inch it starts too operate correctly and blow heat. Has anyone come across this problem, and if so what is it. And if not, where do you think the problem is routed? The switch assembly, which I dont know too be electric of vacume? Or in the operation of the blend door? Or maby even the Heater Core? Any input is appriciated.

#26 of 94 Forcing Ford to Recall Taurus/Sable for water leak and AC Blower defects
Mar 02, 2007 (11:36 am)
I have a 03 Taurus which leaked water onto the passenger floor board also causing my AC Blower motor to short out. I could not get Ford to act even though a related recall existed under 03V087000.
I have found many others with this problem. Together we can force Ford to recall/fix the problem. If enough people with the same problem file the complaint, NHTSA will force Ford to comply with their own existing recall or actually extend an EXISTING recall under 03V087000.
Here is what you need to do:
1. Call NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or go to http://www.nhtsa.gov/
2. File your complaint, have your VIN ready and dates of problems (if possible)
3. While filing your complaint reference recall number 03V087000 AND my complaint 10184014. This will show a continuing trend.
4. If your water leak problem also resulted in a shorted out AC blower motor, make sure you mention this as well.
5. Once you have filed, please e-mail me at williamford61hotmail.com and give me your complaint number. I intend to compile all complaints which will prove the problem is widespread.
Do it and together this will get fixed!

What does the 03V087000 recall cover? Is the recall fixing the water leak but not the blower motor failure caused by the leak? I am looking at 2003 Sable and I want to make sure this problem can be fixed before I buy. Also, If it's been fixed already how can I be sure it's been fixed right? Thanks

Guys, maybe I am missing something... the recall quoted here covers windshield defects. Could somone clarify please? I am actually the next victim of the blower motor being blown... no A/C, no heating, the blower never turns on... is this the common symptom?
