#265 of 328 2008 Saturn Vue Duel Fuel Pumps problems by mina1019

Dec 06, 2011 (1:58 pm)

Has anyone had problems with their Saturn Vue Fuel Pumps. I just purchased this Vue in July, I haven't had it 6 months or driven 6000 miles & the dealership is asking for $1400 + to replace 2 fuel pumps & the sensor. The car isn't even 4 years old. I've always driven Honda and never had this many problems.

The car takes a long time to turn over sometimes & when I fill up the gauge goes to fuel, I drive about 3 miles the next time I start the car the fuel gauge has jumped to just below 3/4 of a tank, then once I restart the car again, the gauge is back on full.

I have 4 service records on this car already & this mess isn't even covered by the powertrain warranty.

I believe this issue was happening way before I purchased the car but the dealership didn't acknowledge the issue when they "inspected" the car. I'm highly upset that a car that isnt even 5 years old has required so much work!

#266 of 328 Sun Roof Leaks by soccermunch10

My sun roof leaks when it rains and the water runs down the drivers side door.
I have had this problem fixed at least 3 times and it keeps on happening. I have also had problems with the electrical system since the sun roof leak. I have had to remove a fuse, because the interior lights will not shut off. The alsrm goes off when it rains for a long period of time

When my Saturn would do this i took it to a friends shop and they blew out the drain holes with an air compressor nozzle. I hadn't had a problem since. It was frustrating that the holes that were put there to keep water out of the car to begin with were the reasons why i had two inches of standing water in my car. Either way keep an eye on the two drain holes and you might want to see if maybe the tubes came undone and that is why it is messing with the electrical? Just brainstorming.... Good luck!!!!!

OMG...I am sorrry to read this 5 or so years later. But if you read this now, just be aware: It happened to me but it was a major problem and it ran into plenty $$. It was an engine problem which despite of many previous times checked by the Saturn mechanics, happened despite their saying 'nothing was wrong'.

The previous poster really hit it on the head but I'd like to add - the drain hose on the drivers side runs right where you say you have the leak...if the repair involved blowing air through the drain, it is possible that they blew the hose right off the fitting or the hose itself might be damaged. Repair the drain hose and you will cure your problem.

I have a 2006 Vue 6clyd 2WD, i love this car and i have now had it for 2 and a half years and have never had any issues out of it. over the past couple months i have had a sound coming out of the front end it seems, it sounds like a growling almost it only does it when im going under 50 mph, and sometimes it will jump almost kinda of how a manual transmission will do until i get at a comfortable speed. What could this be? Today was by far the worst i have ever seen this car act. As i was on the interstate i had been driving for a while with the car in cruise control at about 60 mph, when out of no where the car didn't shut off but the mph started slowly going down and when i would push on the accelerator it wouldn't go anywhere it would just roll. I was eventually able to get it off the side of the road but i had to limp it to the nearest parking lot, it would barely go i was just pushing on the gas pedal and it would just roll. It seems to me from past experience that it has something to do with either the fuel pump or fuel filter? Since i have had the car it has never had any kind of tune up or filters changed, other than just basic oil changes when needed. I really hope its not the fuel pump because lets face it i can't afford $500.00 for a pump right now, so if you could offer any advice or help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think you're looking at 2 separate issues:

Jumping could be torque converter....there was a recall regarding the Honda torque converters like yours...I don't know the details, you may want to contact your dealer to see if you are eligible. Sometimes just changing the trans fluid cures the problem but there's no guarantee.

The "limp home" as you call it is likely the car going into "reduced power mode". I bet the engine light with the downward facing arrow lit up while this was happening. What has happened is that there is a communications problem between your gas pedal position sensor and your throttle position sensor. Either the sensor on the gas pedal is bad (likely), or the sensor on your throttle is bad (less likely) or there is a wiring issue somewhere between them (even less likely). It is not difficult to diagnose or repair and any good dealer or otherwise qualified mechanic will be able to fix it...it may not be cheap but it will be easily diagnosed and fixed. It is actually an interlock which is there to protect you and your car from wildly accelerating out of control due to the throttle being in one position and your gas pedal being in another.

best of luck

I'm glad to hear that your Vue has been a good car for you thus far, minus the experience you've described in your post. I understand it might not always be an option, but if you decide to go to a GM dealership for a diagnosis, please be sure to let us know!

All the best,

#273 of 328 2003 Saturn Vue by gr82balive

Dec 30, 2011 (9:55 pm)

I purchased this 2003 Saturn Vue in 2008. September 2011 the Vti (CVT) tranny went out while driving down a street. Took it into the shop and paid $4,976.23 for a new tranny, center carrier bearing, and a rebuild on the transfer case. Now in December of 2011 I have an EXTREME reduction in mpg's, difficulty shifting between gears, and an intermittent, dry, scraping sound when turning. Took the car into a local GM shop who said my new tranny was still in good operable condition and believe my problems with mpg's, shifting, and scraping sounds to be coming from either the transfer case or front differential, which was quoted at $6,000 to replace. The vehicle has 74,000 miles on it and I did not have these problems until the tranny went out and was replaced. Does anyone have similar issues? Do I still have financial recourse through GM? I have left messages with GM but have not received a phone call back. I would love to just scrap the car but I am unfortunately still making payments on it. I used up my entire savings to do the first repair and can afford no more. Definately was neglectful in doing my homework before purchasing. But never the less I find myself in this situation. Does someone have advice in how to handle this now? I would appreciate anything.
