I think I'd pick the Intrepid/Concorde/Vision. While the reliability would prove to be pretty bad on some of the earlier models, the cars themselves at least showed that big-ish cars didn't have to be old fogey...they could be sleek and fun to drive. I wonder if the Ram would be worth mentioning for 1994? That was the year that Chrysler infused some big-rig/50's styling into the Ram, and made it macho. Sales took off, and since then, just about every truck redesign, with the exception of the "girly-truck" 1997 F-150, seems to have been influenced by that. These trucks also offered some pretty powerful revised 318's and 360's, which definitely helped heat up the horsepower war in the truck arena. However, I think those Magnum engines actually came out in 1992 or 1993, in the old-style Ram.

...or 1995 or 1996, I'd suggest the awesome Impala SS.

The 1994 Ram really revived the Dodge pickup (even if it was a horribly unreliable beast) and seems to have influenced design on other manufacturers, though one could argue that those designs were influenced by the same "historical" sources as the Dodge. 50's? I did not really see that much, I'd say more the 67-72 era Chevy, but again... way leads on to way, so from where did that influence come? Anyway, I can think of nothing else in 1994 which had such a lasting impact. The Dodge truck, at least, would be dead if not for it. It is extremely uncommon for me to even see a pre-94 Dodge on the road. Far less common than classics like the 35+ year old Chevys and Fords (which I see daily vs. an old Dodge maybe weekly or monthly). The '94 Mustang might deserve mention since it helped raise that nameplate from a near-grave, but not like the '05, so let us spread the accolades around a little. |

"What 1971 model has become an icon from that era?" Geez, I thought the Vega and Pinto WERE the icons. |

European: - Volvo 1800 1800/ES - BMW 2002Tii - shoe-in for 1976 - BMW M1 - no contest for this year - Mercedes 450SL - Honda CVCC - Celica or Supra belongs in here somewhere. - Porsche 928 - decades ahead of its time. - Toyota Land Cruiser - any year. Domestics: - Grand National - Oldsmobile 442 or Cutlass Supreme - last of the big block tanks. - Chevrolet Caprice. THE 80s cop-car. - Mustang Mach 2 - Jeep Wrangler - finally a driveable CJ. |

| Just before Edmund's was born. Still looks modern today. I wanted one in 1964. Too much money. I ended up buying a new Land Cruiser for $2400. The more practical choice. Either one is worth way more today than when it was new. | |
