"anybody up for a 40th anniversary Plymouth Roadrunner??"

Before the hi po Chargers die out the second time, I still think we're going to see a special, limited edition Charger Daytona "Superbird" (yeah I know, mixing the brands, but) edition, complete with towel rack spoiler and aero nose...

Actually they don't even have to mix names up. In 1969 the Dodge Charger Daytona WAS the one with the nose cone and giant wing. I think the 1970 Plymouth Superbird is the one everyone remembers though, because they built about 4 times as many (~2000 versus ~500)

I've read that the drag coefficient on those winged monsters was 0.28...lower than most cars made today!

I've always heard that the spoiler was as high as it was for the sole reason of the driver being able to fully open the trunk...is that true?

I always thought that was the main reason, but I also heard that they made the spoiler that big to help keep the rear wheels planted on the pavement better at higher speeds on the NASCAR track.

2000 "American Online buys Time Warner for $165 billion" by playdrv4me

This is incorrect in that the reverse actually occured. TIME WARNER (in a less than enlightened move I might add) purchased America Online (not American) Inc. in 2000.

BTW... I Agree with the LS400 recommendation for 1990... however if the introduction year of the vehicle is the only one that can be counted, than the Miata still probably had a bigger impact on ITS market segment for its intro year, than did the LS. Also the LS is well... as exciting as watching tree sap.

No.. I think it was right the first time.. AOL bought Time Warner... After the sale they called it AOL/Time Warner.... Until it became obvious that AOL's business model was unsustainable, and they dropped the AOL portion of the name.

Kyfdx is quite correct.

Ask just about anybody which Internet merger of the boom era was the worst, and they’ll say AOL’s acquisition of Time Warner.

On the forums, from Edmunds: "The Most Significant Cars from the Past 40 Years.... new cars added each week."

Is that called being fashionably late, or just missing the boat?

By my tally, Dodge led all makes with 6 and DaimlerChrysler led all manufacturers with 12.

12 DaimlerChrysler (9 Chrysler Group / 3 Mercedes Group)
 5 Ford
 5 GM
 4 Toyota
 4 Nissan
 3 Honda
 3 BMW
 2 Mazda
 1 Porsche
 1 VW
 1 Mitsubishi

The PT Cruiser was a Plymouth in 2001. It became a Chrysler after Plymouth was discontinued in (I think) 2002.
