The new Z-car was a '90 model...

Actually, the new BMW 5-series would be a good pick..

The LS400 needs to win for 1990 and for 1992 either the camry or the Lexus SC needs to win and the RX300 needs to win in 1998 becuase of how it changed the SUV market.

And the 5er gets it. I still like the S13 better.

Yeah, LS for 90 pretty much hands down, even though the Miata isn't exactly invisible, and even the Accord that year is a memorable car.

I don't see the RX as especially significant, myself...Mercedes ML came out that same year, and it's more or less in an identical market position (save for how it helped hurt MB through less than awesome reliability)

The original ML was a body on frame truck with low range and actually some decent off-road ablity.

The RX was the first true luxury crossover since before that all crossovers were junky little compact SUVs.

I still don't see the RX making the list though.

The LS should as it was a wake up call for Merc and BMW but that is the only lexus I see making the list.

Fin, this is almost completely random here, but I saw what I would consider to be an MB minivan yesterday... Do you know what it was? Almost looked like a late '90s Nissan Quest in terms of its overall shape.

I suppose that's the difference, yeah. IIRC RX was a model year 1999 vehicle anyway. I can't think of a Lexus other than the LS either...and it certainly gets nothing for its copycat styling.

I don't know about the Mercedes minivan....MB does have a full line of vans in Europe of course, but we see nothing aside from the deluxe-Pacifica styled R class and the non-MB badged Sprinter.

Here's a Euro MB van...not so mini I guess

Oh, yep, that is what it was... an R-class. It was a quick look as I was turning left at the same intersection it was turning right (and going the opposite direction). Thanks!

I like the looks of it... I could go for an R63.... if it were about $50,000 cheaper!

I actually saw a Sprinter van with a Merc Three pointed star badge a couple of weeks ago when I was delivering that Range Rover to the customer in New York.

R63 could be interesting for the AMG loving family man.

I have seen a Sprinter with a MB badge too, being used as an errand runner by the local MB franchise. I am sure the MB grille is an easy switch. If I had one I might do the same...technically, it is a Mercedes!

With 1990 being more or less a shoe-in...how about 1991?
