Please forgive me, I'm not a gear head and my terminology may not be correct, but Recently I noticed when I'm traveling between 40 - 50 MPH with my foot off the accelerator pedal and then accelerating, the vehicle (engine) feels like it is missing, but then I took it to a garage who placed it on the computer and nothing appeared to be wrong. Then a friend was riding with me and the vehicle "did it", he said that it could be the transmission. He called a friend (mechanic) who said that the 2006 has had some transmission wiring problems. When I think of transmissions, I don't think of wiring...??? Has anyone heard of this and is it a shop repair or can I do myself?

I have a 1994 F150 2wd 5.0 302 automatic transmission. Just replaced the tr switch (neutral safety switch) because I thought that was the issue however the problem is still there. Starts fine idles at about 1000 rpm some days you can put her in drive and off she goes she will shift roughly but she shifts, other days (or later that day) i put her in drive and she wont shift out of second. there are no determining factors as to why its slipping or why it will slip but I can be driving along at 40 to 50 mph and she will slip right out of gear and go into first, the rpm jump from 600 or 1000 to 3000. I put lucas transmission stuff in it that said it helps with slipping and seals any leaks but that was before I changed the tr switch. Any suggestion or experience in the matter would be greatly appreciated as I don't think I can afford to take her to the shop and if I can fix it myself I would rather do that.

I just experienced like a miss firing with my 2006 f250, had a turbine speed sensor error and replaced, kept with the tow haul lite blinking and miss firing so the wire harness was replaced also replaced. Hope this was it, I'm getting the truck today.

Good afternoon. I have an 06 F150 5.4 Triton Lariat 4x4 crew cab. Between 40-50 MPH the truck bumps or bounces. If I accelerate the truck hesitates then takes off, and the bouncing goes away. Also, if I let off the gas peddle, it goes away too. The check engine light isnt on. I had the transmission flushed at 100K, I now have 150K, on the truck. It doesnt sound good but other than that, the truck runs excellent. I have heard of some wiring issues but i can't confirm. Thank you for all your help.

This exact problem was making me crazy. I was sure I was into another transmission. It was simple: a new set of plugs. Seriously, I had an error message for a coil, but it was fine. The plugs were totally messed up. They are wicked hard to remove once they are this old and will separate. You'll need a special Ford tool to remove the part that separates. It's $120, and trust me you'll need it. IT'S NOT THE TRANNY! IT'S A STUPID SPARK PLUG SHORT!

I have not done anything yet. I kind of know how to avoid making it happen now. I have a little ove 90,000 miles so I will probably just have the plugs done this summer and see if that fixes it.

I went ahead and had a tune up done to the tune of $500+. Also had to have the drivers side IWE done a tthe same time. Funny that they told me it would be an extra $100 for each plug that broke off when trying to get them out. I was going to hit them with "what is the book time on a plug change" and "how much time did you actually spend" I was not going to pay an extra $100 per plug. I have heard the tool does an excellant job of getting them out. Fortunately for me, no plugs broke. The tech said he has been using a new technique - which is the complete opposite of what FORD tells them to do. He said he puts a small impact socket on the plug and lets it hammer away for 3-5 minutes on low pressure, about 30 PSI. Then he tries to remove the plug. HE said he has done about a dozen trucks like this and has had no plugs break. I don't know, but it worked for mine - thank goodness. Now to fix my odometer display and replace my drivers side window switch AGAIN. Did front brakes this weekend - pretty easy job. Oh, by the way. They also charged me $200 for diagnostics on both issues. I took the tech for a ride and he diagnosed both problems on the ride - said he was sure that's what it was. Still charged for the mysterious "diagnostics".
