Tony,

I want to start by saying thanks for taking the time to reply to my message! You were a great help.

I have moved three times in the past year and half and did not get the notice of the recall. When I dropped it off at ford I told them that I heard there was a recall. They told me it would be a $131.00 charge just to put it on the computer.

Two days later they said they fixed it and there was no chrage! It was the Cam Sensor and was covered by Ford. It seems my luck is starting to change. Since this Divorce it seems everything has been bad luck! But maybe this is a sign of things turning! LOL. Thanks greatly Tony!

Hey Steve,

They was probably thinking the same thing as me in which normally when that Cam Sensor goes out it's out and your dead in the water, thats the first time I have ever heard of it working like your was doing.
I know what you mean about Divorces and really glad you was able to have a change of luck and hopefully things keep getting better for you Steve as someone that has been through it twice I know what you are going through.

Again you are very welcome!
Tony

They never mentioned it. But Yes, it was going on about for 10 days. It was identical 20 minute drive when it acted up each and everytime. Unusual.

Yes on divorces. It has been three years worth of bad luck! So, this was a suprise of no charge to fix the truck! I feel for you going through two of them. I say, "I will never say I do again" but in reality, I probably would if under the correct circumstnces.

When I open the hood of any vehicle, it is like a foreign language to me. I normally do not post on these message boards but figured I would give it a try. Once again, thanks for taking the time to inform me of possible reasons for it acting up. I wish you the best of luck with anything you do in the future! Take care

I've got a 2001 Ford F250 with the 7.3 diesel and I've replaced cam sensors like 2 or 3 times since I've had it. Recently, it started doing the same thing it's done in the past when the cam sensor was bad; it'll either miss out or just cut out and die. Usually it will restart after just a few minutes. I added some Cetane boost and replaced the fuel filter, and it still kept dying on me. So, now I have replaced the cam sensor and it's still doing it. Anybody else had a similar problem or have any ideas?

I am not sure if this is what happened to our truck this weekend, we have an automatic and we were leaving horse camp towing our 5 horse trailer up hill at 7000 ft elevation when my husband shifted from 2nd to drive and he lost all power, the truck was still running but all gauges shut down and the truck would not accelerate at all. We had to have the entire rig towed down the mountain with the horses in the trailer to the tune of $150 an hour, 190 miles from home. It's at the shop owned by the tow company as they were the closest and convinced us they could do the job as they work on thier own fleet of 40 Ford tow trucks. Does this sound like the same problem to you? Thanks

I hope this helps... Our truck experienced the same problems along with the ABS light and Loss of our speedometer. It was the speed module found on the rear axle. It cost $80 to change out. Here we thought we needed a new transmission! That would of cost $4000.

The speed sensor module is what it could be. We also lost all power when towing our 5th wheel. The truck would start, but not run. We could go we discovered in 1st.

hello the engine in my 93 f-350 dually crew cab with 5 speed manual trans acts up over 2500 rpm. It cracks and farts kind of like a gas engine with a bad cap or wires. If I sit in neutral or if i'm on a hill pulling the engine just carrys on above 2500. Has anyone had a similar problem and give me someplace to start looking. I bought a repair manual that covers the F series but does not include the 7.3 can anyone recommend a book that does cover the 7.3 diesel
thank you
Jay
