I have an 86 trooper II with a gas engine and want to put in a diesel from an 81 chev luv which is also an isuzu motor can this be done without alot of extra parts?

I have been trying and trying to find anything in the damned OM about the bloody clock in Mama's 1991 Trooper to no avail. Never thought of the display button though.
