We followed the instruction to play all CDs randomly, but it didn't work. Have you gotten this feature to work?

This may not relate to you, but IIRC, if you're playing MP3 or WMA discs, you cannot get the random function to switch discs. You can, however, get it to select random tracks from random folders on a single disc. (Though in my experience, the randomization tends to repeat a lot. )

Enable all Nav/phone/music functions while driving? by heathinsd

Does anyone know if there is a way to enable all of the functions of the DVD Navigation, Phone, and CD Player while driving? I know they reduce functionality while driving due to safety, that totally makes sense. However I always have people in the car with me and it makes it difficult for them to use the system when we're moving.

For example, you have to use speed dial for the phone or do "dial by voice" which takes forever. You can't view folder/file views on MP3 CDs. You can't update the phone book or mess with any of the Setup or Maintenance screens either.

Thanks for any help!

Is there a dimmer function for the cd/radio? I found the dimmer knob for the instrument panel, but could not find anything for the audio panel. I don't have navigation.

I have seen this complaint/question a few times now. I do not have an answer at the moment, but I am trying to get one. I have a copy of a manual called "Body Electrical" for the TCH and it lists lots of dealer-settable options. One of them MIGHT adjust the brightness of the stereo, but the English isn't very clear (bad translation?) so I cannot be sure. I will post back what I find out.

Thanks. I like the brightness during the daytime, but found that it was too bright for dark nights. I look forward to hearing from you.

I noticed that when I turned the dimmer for the dash lights, the bezel around the radio dimmed too. I don't see what is wrong with that.. I must admit it is awfully bright at night when set on full brightness. I don't see any problem with dimming it down for night driving. Also you can adjust the screen display of the NAV system to dim that display which also is bright at night. I don't have the occasion to do that much night driving so don't consider it much of a problem.

Where did you purchase the Body Electrical for the TCH? Was it available online or did you obtain it through your dealership?

I paid $25 for a one-year membership to www.tundrasolutions.com. There, I downloaded dozens of Acrobat-reader formatted files (.pdf) on the TCH. This included the full owner's manual (about a dozen separate .pdf files) and other goodies like the pre-delivery checklist and the "Body Electrical" information I referenced. I recall seeing another site that claimed to give one day's access to all this info for $10. I assume you can download copies, but I don't know for a fact.

Frankly, I think having .pdf files of everything related to my new car is worth $25. (Text in the documents is fully searchable!)

That other site probably was Toyota's Technical Information Service (TIS) at :

http://techinfo.toyota.com/

Unfortunately for us Canadians, we are not allowed to subscribe (I'm the one who was told by both Hyundai and Toyota that US Canadian cars were not the same !).

I understand that US laws probably force manufacturers to make technical information available at a reasonable cost. American owners : Enjoy !

I did register with Tundra, and it's a good start : I did get the electrical schematics.
