I live on the busiest street in Houston Texas it is quicker getting around in major traffic on the ebike than the car have rode 1000 miles plus so far.. I also have a 2002 Taurus I have not driven the cost differences are my 2002 Taurus - cost used $8995 plus 8.5% sales tax, insurance before I dive it $1600 year, taxes $300, state sticker $156, inspection sticker $36, tires $400, battery $90, gas if I drove it 3000 miles gas $442.50, oil change $39...fix parking lot dents repaint $650 ... and the depreciation.
Ebike costs new - motor $500 - bike $150 changed tires $18, lights $28 - including airconditing - the cost per mile to drive/own car is 12K for the same thing I am doing on ebike - I would rather have the 12K in my pocket - ok I am cheap

"I live on the busiest street in Houston Texas it is quicker getting around in major traffic...."

Ok, I'm a bit slow and just saw this. Um, a couple of comments.

First, paying $1600/year insurance on a 4-year old Taurus indicates (to me anyway) a fairly young driver; probably under 25yo.

Second, using a bike for a large portion of your around town errands/commuting IN HOUSTON TRAFFIC is not a good way to ensure you'll see the far side of 30.

I've seen Houston traffic. I know how they drive. I wish you luck.

Wow
I didnt know anyone directly lived on I10, but I would strongly not advise driving anything but a car. With Houston drivers cars are at risk. A motorcycle is even more at risk and a e-bike or human-powered bike are at the most risk. Even if you were on one of the less busy roads, 610, Hwy 59, I45 cars are still very dangerous in Houston much less anything else.

You know why there aren't any old, bold mountain climbers? probably the same reason there arent' many old, bold e-bikers LOL

Good luck and BE SAFE,

Who wants to ride a bike, or even an eBike, in the rain? Never mind if you live in a winter state. I mean, if you can ride a bike to work then I say more power to you, but I think most people would want a car as a backup.

And what if your wife wants you to run errands on the way home from work - where are you going to stash those grocery bags?

"And what if your wife wants you to run errands on the way home from work - where are you going to stash those grocery bags? " That's an advantage, not a disadvantage.

I have one guy that rides his human power bicycle to work everyday rain or shine.

I have another coworker who lives farther away and is a true biker. He rides his Harley every day rain or shine.

I had an employee who stood on his head for 30 minutes everyday in the break room, after consuming his lunch, which was always sprouts, lentils, and carrot juice, for over six years.

One day he died from a burst blood vessel in his brain.....he drove a moped to work.

I still have it two years later. No one came for it.
