last week in my 1999 2-door chevy tracker with 4-speed auto and 2.0L engine i got 26.80mpg. mostly city. well actually county driving. this week i averaged 25.7mpg Im using 215 tires and i changed all my fluids to amsoil synthetic fluids. front and rear axles, transfer case, transmission. but in the engine on this oil change i went with mobil1 5w30 Extended performance. i did this because i couldnt get access to amsoil when i needed to change it. this year has been the best MPG i have gotten in the 5 years that i have owned this tracker. in the winter i average 21-22mpg

Just returned from a 400 mile trip that took me over the Cascade Mountains here in Oregon. First tank 27.2 MPG going to my destination, second tank returning 30.1 MPG. 2001 2.0 4 cyl, auto transmission. Just me in the vehicle, air conditioning running the entire time, never over 65 MPH, 215/70 15's 40PSI in the tires.

Mileage averages 21 city/highway. Sticker had 19 city 22 highway for V6 with 4 speed auto. 22000 miles best tank 24 worst tank 19. Still have not taken on a trip to get 100% Highway miles for 1 tank of gas to see how well it could do.

Just returned from a 600 mile trip. 26.92 MPG there, 28.5 MPG back. 4 people in the Tracker, air conditioner running occasionally, 40 PSI in the tires, never any faster than 65 MPH.

omg!! you have a V-6 4-door tracker and you got 26.92 and 28.5?!?! My 2.0l 2-door tracker only got a max of 25.7mpg.. thats amazing... see the reason i am asking is i found a tracker like i am asking about and i researched the EPA rating for that tracker and they said 18-20mpg. If i can get that kind of MPG from that V-6 im looking at i would be a very happy camper!!!

My New England mpg experience with my 2003 2dr 4x4 tracker 2.0L automatic ZR2 with less than 9000 miles and Wrangler all terrain tire pressure (the standard jeep tire)at 26 psi follows:
1) Drove solo 260 miles in cruise control at 50 mph on rolling terrain interstate - result 32.3 mpg.
2) Every day use drivng around town and country solo and occasionally with wife in mixed rolling /flat/ hilly terrain including interstates - Wrangler tire pressure 26 psi: result 27.2 mpg
I always try to keep my speed below 55 mph but don't always succeed, and use cruise control where practicable. I don't gun it when the light changes and I "try" to roll to a stop rather than braking - which often means largely ingoring (within the bounds of safety) what other traffic is doing around me.
In other words, I try to drive like a little old lady!
