I'm impressed. Northern VA got some good wintry mix yesterday (2/25). Maybe 2 inches (not much by northern standards), but enough to make all of the timid drivers chug along at 25 MPH on the freeways. Me? Buzzed right by them in unplowed lanes. Averaged about 45 MPH, considering the slush I was plowing through. I have the GT AWD, so handled all of that with relative ease. No out-of-control, slipping and sliding. Noticed the TCS/ESC indicator flashing periodically. All-in-all, I'm still thrilled, even with 16,000 miles under my belt! Vince. |

Curiously, 1stMazda disagrees, see his remark #148. What tires is your CX-7 togged out in? Darth Vader Grey GT etc. etc.

Not considered dangerous for certain parts of a male anatomy, but for other parts of the anatomy, there is Pilatus. So says an Old Stiff!! Darth Vader Grey, etc. etc. |

Replying to: rex10 (Dec 21, 2006 4:50 pm) If I have the cruise control on, and I am driving in the Appalachians where there are several long moderate grade hills to climb, would I expect a downshift from 6 to 5? Would it likely avoid having to go from 5 to 4 unless very steep? Bud H

Replying to: budh (Mar 16, 2007 1:27 am) What I have encountered however, and this is neat, is when going downhill, I step on the brakes a bit, the tranny downshifts to the next lower gear on it's own and stays there during the entire descent down the hill. It won't upshift unless I step on the accelerator or if the descent levels out. If I need additional assist from the tranny, I apply the brakes again to slow down and it downshifts once again.
