What kind of tires should I get? by texash531

I have a 2007 FWD CX-7 with about 28,000 miles on it. It's mostly just my front tires that need replacing badly and I've been putting it off longer then I should. I live in North Texas so it's only cold about 2 months out of the year and an occasional snow shower so I don't really think I really need all seasons tires. I know alot about cars but nothing about tires so all the sizes and ratings I have no clue about. I do a lot of highway driving mostly in the 75-80mph range when I can get away with it if that makes a difference and I have a heavy foot and like to accelerate quickly from stops. I need to replace them soon. What kind of tires would be best for me?

cx7lover, I searched on mcx7. Can you tell me which thread it is? Even just the title of the thread will help. (I searched "tires" and "tire wear", and didn't find it.)

I have 14K miles on my CX-7 that I bought about 1 year ago, and the there are really no threads left on them.

I thought tires typically last 30K. I am quite disappointed. Is it the tires? The car? The way I drive? Which tires are recommended for CX-7 that can last more than 15K miles?

thanks

I am also looking to purchase a new set of tires. Any recommendations to replacing the Bridestrone Turanzas?

Looking for better quality. (Last longer, quieter, all weather, better handling, etc..)
thanks.

Be aware any CX-7 sold with either the Bridgestone and or Goodyear tires will wear out within 20k if not sooner. Alignmennts and rotating will not stop this. I recommend changing to the Pirelli Scorpion for all season traction and wear. The tire is a more aggressive tread, yet based on customers I spoke with they are not noisey. Most of the tires made to fit this size wheel and vehicle are only summer performance tires, very few are true all season tires. If you live in snowy conditions, buy snow tires. I can not stress this enough. Even thought he vehicle is all wheel drive, summer performance tires due not perform in snow! I know these cars very, very well.

I do live in the Northeast, and it does get snowy. Will Pirelli Scorpion be good enough, or should I get 2 sets of tires? (One summer, one winter)

If you recommend snow tires, which ones do you recommend?

thanks,

Wheels and rubber look awesome!!
Another question... I noticed that you have a color-matched shark fin antenna instead of the factory "black stick". How did that come to be... aftermarket I'm sure.

CX-7 Premature & Excessive Tire Wear by nexuscanada

I am a new owner of a Mazda CX-7 with 4 wheel drive and I have experienced a lot of issues and problems with my vehicule... After the 2 recalls for the engine light staying on and the actuator shutter valve, I am not having a tire problem to deal with at 16k km. My stock Bridgestone Turanza tires are showing premature and excessive wear even after they have been rotated at 6k & 12K km as per the service maintenance schedule. One set has no crossthread and worn on the inside edge while the other set are worn in the middle. I have reported the issue at a 16K km oil change and the dealer has now changed 2 tires which are the worst set at the front but not changed the other 2 tires at the back... I have now requested the dealer to change the other set as they are claiming that it was an alignment problem... I am awaiting the dealer's answer...

I know that this is an alignment problem but not only on 2 wheels but all 4 wheels based on the wearing... These OEM tires are crap!!!

The fact that the stock tires are crap and that the tires are not matched for this vehicule does not help either... The car warranty is 20k km or 1 year and I am below so I am trying to have all 4 tires replaced...

If the alignment gets done properly with all 4 new Turanza tires, will I get at least 30k km with these stock tires?

Any suggestions on other replacement tires for the CX-7? Can I go to 255?

Thank you!

Not sure if you want to go plus size on these. Given the issues with the stock tire size, you may make things worse.
So far, the best tire I've found is the General UHP but it is directional. Great for traction, but you can't "truly" rotate them. Michelin is probably the next best rated in this size. Take a look at tirerack.com

When I replace all 4 of the crappy Bridgestone Turanza, I am thinking of Continental Crosscontact UHP 235/60VR18 which I looked up on www.tirerack.com

They seems to be very good all around all season tires and most buyers and users are pleased with them... Pirelli & Michelin did not get too good appreciation...

Any comments on these tires?

Thank you!

Anyone tried Goodyear Eagle Response Edge? They are more reasonably-priced than the Continentals.
