Hi! I have a pontiac grand am se 2004! Ive been having issues with my security light coming on! Yup I do the 10 minute thing when it comes on and doesn't start! I also have a stereo that has no lights, it works but you can't see what station your on at all..I was told by a few people that it was the Ignition, then I was told it was that I needed a new stereo! Now I was told that it could be the battery... So any suggestions or help would be great! Sometimes my security light doesn't come on for weeks but last week it came on everyday and I had to wait the 10 minutes for it to start again! With winter here I don't wanna be trapped somewhere in the cold! I also don't want to buy something for my car if its not what is needed! Thankyou!

I am having problems with my driver door window, it no longer goes down. I have replaced the main switch in the door, which of course did not fix the problem. I would like to know if anyone know's of other places the problem could be, i thought of removing the panel on the door to check out window motor to see if it is still working. Thanks all

Yes, Barb, I have the same problem (am currently working on it). Why in the world did GM put that stupid screw behind the steering wheel when they know it's not easily accessible?! And what is it with heater cores and combination switches messing up at around the same time on Grand Ams? I finally got the steering column panels off, got the connectors unplugged, and thought I had all the screws out until I discovered that evil one behind the steering wheel, so what size allen wrench did you use to get that one? Most manuals say you have to take the steering wheel off in order to change the combo switch, but that is so stupid to go through all that trouble for one screw!! And I just do not want to pay anyone for putting a part on a car that I can do myself (heck all you do is plug in the three connectors then screw the switch in). The types of screws are star screws and I bought a T-25 x 4 star screwdriver that works fine, but can anyone tell me what I can use to get that last screw off WITHOUT having to take my steering wheel off? I'd appreciate any help because though I don't live far from my job, I'm worried about getting in trouble driving with my lights off (I've already been spotted by the police a few times). Thanks guys.

Hi. You seem to be pretty knowledgeable and I noticed you responded to the same problem I am having that someone else had--a bad combination switch. Also, I notice that you have been on this forum recently which is another reason I am asking for your help. I have my steering wheel panels off, all screws out and connectors unplugged, but the one thing keeping me from removing the old switch completely is that annoying star screw at the bottom. I can't reach it due to the steering wheel, I don't want to have to go through the trouble of taking the wheel off (not that I have the tools or money for THAT anyway) and I definitely do not want to pay someone for something I can do myself. So can you please tell me what tool I need to get that last screw out (I have a T 25x4 star screwdriver, but can't use it for that last screw because of the steering wheel). Thanks for any and all your help.

I only had to replace the combination switch on the 95 we used to have, not on a later model if that's what your talking about. What part of the steering wheel is in the way?

I have a 95 Grand Am SE and it's the lower half of the steering wheel.
