| I had the opportunity to drive a Mazda3, and a Mazda5, both rental, but almost new cars, back to back. Boy, do they feel like completely different cars even though they share platform and many components! The steering feel, in particular, felt so much better in the 3. | |

I didn't expect it to handle as nicely as the lighter, lower 3, but what I found surprising was that the steering lacked the precise road feel in the 3. And, IMO, Mazda has to put in traction control in the 5. It wasn't difficult to spin the inside front tire at all when turning on wet pavement. |
