Hello everyone, I have a couple questions that I figured could be answered fairly soon here. I have a 06 Sub Impreza 2.5i. I purchased this car last Dec and I am 18 yrs. old, meaning I would have purchased the STI or WRX but I can't afford the insurance. So here is my situation, I am now looking to do some performance modifications to it. I KNOW SUBARU has created the line of Imprezas to come how they want them to run and tuned them the correct performance stock. BUT I want to put the money into mine to make it run better than it does now. I am looking to install a Greddy catback exhaust onto for the 10+ h.p I will get out of it with the performance sounds as a plus. I also want to install a cold air intake which should make it get a little better mpg plus a couple horses. I am also looking to do an aftermarket turbo install into it but I haven't done much research into that yet. I am wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to what exhaust system would be best for my non turbo engine as of this moment and a nice air intake for a 06. I would greatly appreciate any comments or advice from you. Thanks for your time. First, decide if you will turbo or not, because that makes a big difference. You want about 2.25" pipe for a N/A engine, but maybe about 3" for a turbo.   You can stay normally aspirated and still do a lot - intake, exhaust, lighter/underdrive pulley, cams, etc.   -juice

Sooner or later I will install a aftermarket turbo into it but I want to put a nice exhuast, air intake, headers, etc. Any advice on what company will give me the most umff for the buck? Replying to: zootedmalish (Jul 15, 2006 7:25 am) As far as putting a carbon hood w/ or w/out scoop for the 06 you pretty much have to go through the dealer. All the hinges and fitting is identical but there isn’t any aftermarket hoods built for the 06 model that I have found. I have done quite a bit of research because Im going to do the same thing to mine. The dealership quoted me about 500 for the hood w/ indent for scoop and about 200 for scoop so you’re looking about 700+ 100 for paint. I would go through the dealership so you’re sure to have a warrantee for the shipping, through an internet site the hood can be damaged through shipping and you get the shaft. But that’s my input on the carbon hood; it definitely gives the car that STI sporty look, which Im going to do. Thanks for the site for the intake, its exactly what Im looking for.
