So here's his story....this guy bought a used 2007 Versa with about 20,000 miles, and at the end of the same year, he has put another 60,000 miles on it?
That is not impossible of course but that means that his Versa rolls up over 6600 miles a month, or 222 miles a day 7 days a week.
I guess it's out of warranty.

I'd have to go back and read it again but I think he bought new and liked that the car was under 20k DOLLARS. My reaction when I first read it was the same as yours but a second look suggested to me that 20k referred to price. If that's the case the guy put 80k miles on it and that just adds more to the impression that he did a lot of driving for a year by any standard. 80k miles is still way too low for tranny failure in normal conditions, but we don't know what kind of driving conditions or driving style the car experienced.. That business about replace don't repair needs some clarification. It does not sound right at all. In fact I'm sure there has to be more to the story. I do not believe any [car] manufacturer could survive with such a policy.

yes its been resolved by me paying $4786 for a new transmission...... Let me clarify I bought this car in Rapid City SD it had a bad wheel sensor in it when I bought it in oct o6 but the dealer didnt have one to replace it with I waited and called about the sensor getting we dont have one yet they are new and we dont have the parts each time I called to check then in April 07 we moved back home to TN the car was hauled home because we had no one to drive it........ I drive between 300 and 500 highway miles daily this was all explained at dealership we bought the car from ... they told us we would never have a problem with it ... I get my oil changed evey 8 to 10 days and yes all factory matinence was completed on this car I have all the reciepts... it had 80,618 miles on it when the trannie went with no warning no sensor no nopthing it just started "squeling" really loud and then the tach needle stopped at 3500 rpms and didnt move... I took it to the dealer here by my work which was not the same dealer I had it serviced ... he looked over all my reciepts and said he had no clue why this happened they went through diagnostics for 3 days on it b4 they decided it was deffinatley the belt or pully inside the trannie.. and since it was out of warrenty I would have to pay for it! The sales manager tried to help us with getting some help from nissan and they gave him the same answer they gave me ... 26 days after the inital complaint was filed....its out of warrenty to bad.... so I paid for a new one and told the service manager that was working with me I wanted the old one since I had to pay for the new one... when we went to pick the car up the service manager wasn't there.. I asked them to load the old trannie on my truck and they looked at me like I was crazy ... said it had already been sent back to nissan ... needless to say I went off the sales manager came out and said I didnt have a right to collect the old one at least thats what nissan said and that they shipped it out yesterday... I started dialing my phone he said who are you calling I told him the police I payed over 4 grand for a new one and specifically said I wanted the old one and in my book that was theft over a $1000... well he walked inside and then came back out about 3 mins later and said pull your truck around and we will load it... turns out nissan didnt want me taking it... I have since had that trannie tore down by a CVT certified tech it has a defective belt in it and we are now in the process of the whole lawyer/court thing..... I will say the new trannie drives EXACTLy like the old one did and only came with a 12,000 mile 1 year warrenty..... now that I said all this the whole reason I bought another nissan is because my 01 sentra had 423,000+ miles on it in 04 when we sold it yes sold it it is still on the road.... then I get this and it will no doubt be my last nissan oh and you havent seen this listed as a problem due to the fact that I am probobally the only person with one out of warrenty if they are still under warrenty they keep the old trannie... I think this is so they don't have to admit there is a problem BUT I would advise anyone looking to buy one of these to research better there are all kinds of complaints listed on the CVTs in MURANOS

I have been driving my 2007 nissan versa hatchback for a year now and have been mostly pleased. It feels like a midsize car inside and is a very smooth ride with good gas mileage. The only problem I have experienced are the hubcaps. The clips that hold them onto the tire are easily broken off. I have lost 3 hubcaps in one year. Nissan needs to do a recall on the hubcaps and fix the problem.
