Replying to: stevedebi (Jul 10, 2006 12:14 pm) Per JD Powers(which is not biased data as is Consumer Reports), Saturn brand is at least average which is the same as your Ford, and the same as Honda in overall Mfg quality; Mechanical, Interior and Body mfg quality...

Personally, I prefer longer term stuff, and yes, I trust Consumer Union publications. They don't take advertising money. FWIW, CR shows my Freestyle to be poor quality, but their view is distorted by early problems with the AWD model in 2005. They rate the 500 as excellent, and the FW is essentially a 500 with very different sheet metal and suspension. So they can be wrong about a certain model. But I test drove the 2003 Vue, and selected the Honda CR-V hands down. From looking at the Vue forums, I think I made a good choice.

Per the JD site the 2006 CRV is rated about the same as the VUE in initial quality and Appeal (1/2 step up on IQ and 1/2 step under in Appeal) I don't think a compare of the 2003 models(VUE/CRV) to the 2006 is equivalent, since the 2006 VUE has the Honda V6 available which is not offered on the CRV... I wouldn't own either with a 4 cylinder. My next door neighbors are Ford folks and their 2006 Freestyle has been in the shop 3 times for transmission, brakes and air conditioning systems... All boils down to what you like, how its maintained and ands some draw of luck. I used to use the CR alot, until I started having quite different experiences than their ratings indicated.(I'm good to our vehicles and we usually run them up to quite a few miles. i.e. our 98 Volvo has 125k miles and many niggling problems since new) CR has been shown to has some bias issues with their data; ran across this which confirmed my suspicions a few years back. http://www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=4733 Glad you like your CRV. I had an associate with a 2002 and after a year she couldn't get rid of it fast enough... to each in his own.

Replying to: stevedebi (Aug 22, 2006 5:24 pm) I just got back a week or so ago from 8-9 days of road travel in the VUE. 4200+ miles with out a sniffle. Got overall 25.6 mpg - see my post #41 on the "Saturn Vue: MPG-Real World Numbers" forum. I think you might have given the VUE serious thought in 2003 if it had the Honda V6 - it is very different than the 4 cyl. and I preferred it to the GM V6 offered in the Equinox etc...
