Wrap Up Long-Term Test: 2006 Kia Sedona EX - We experienced only minor issues with our Sedona outside of its regular maintenance schedule, and each of them fell under Kia's incredible warranty. Mechanical reliability was never questioned over its 25,000-mile lifetime in our fleet. Its low purchase price and good quality make it a great value up front. (more)

I read your long term test litany of complaints against the car and I am left agreeing with the foreign people who think the world would be better off without Americans like you guys. Seriously, Which parent will hold the kid while the other person fumbles for the remote ? Could you people even live in the past "Dark Ages" where people had to use "keys" and walk to their car at the same time, while chewing gum ? Your complaints make the " testers" come off looking like shallow suburban pin heads. Yikes! I'll bet you talk on the cell phone while driving too, right? And steer with your knees? And send text messages ? Hey , my 2002, which your magazine rated as primitive junk has 79K miles on it and it rides wonderfully and it gets 25 MPG on the highway. I would take it over my former Dodge Minivan any day. You are forgetting the 1988 and up Dodge Minivans aren't you. Kia started out in 2002 WAY ahead of those early days. They learned a lot from all those various mini vans out there, including the Windstar. The Sedona CAME with 4 wheel independent suspension. My Dodge never did. For at least ten years they just kept cranking out over sized K cars. My Sedona has 79K on it. My Dodge blew three transmissions. My Sedona came with a 5 Speed. Standard. The " Standard" Dodge in 2002 came with a 4 Cyl motor and a 3 speed transmission. That was the main reason I went Kia. The power train. After all , what is the most important feature of a family mini van? It has to be operational for close to eternity, since you can't afford to pay to fix it, or the kids don't eat that week. So I say hats off the Kia. They started with a great product and they went up from there. Chrysler started with a mediocre product and milked it for ten years until the Asians showed up to the party and started winning.

Replying to: smulvey (Aug 03, 2006 7:41 pm) My 89 Grand Caravan has rolled over 200k recently, and if my 04 KIA Sedona EX can manage 200k without ever having any major engine repairs, and never having the trans worked on, and still use no oil between changes and manage 25mpg, then I'll be convinced. Just as in all things - there are good and not-so-good vehicles. Most people don't give out praise and positive comments as often as they do complaints. You have to consider the source in which you are viewing the statements. Still, I think the KIA/Hyundai vehicles offer good value and service for the money. There are many in this country that cannot afford a $30k+ vehicle. IMHO Boxwernch |

You say it lost 59.2% of its value. While it actually retained 59.2% of its value. Plus you probably didn't buy it for sticker price since you guys are probably pretty good negotiators etc. 40.8% of MSRP lost doesn't seem unreasonable considering you put 25,000 miles on it.
