Wow, the reviewer really didn't like the SMG on the 06 M6. That's surprising given it was the latest incarnation, the so-called SMG-III version. As for me, articles like these are valuable since I'm on the fence trying to decide between the manual or SMG version for the 07/8 M3.

I appreciate the clear and resounding conclusion,.. basically a THUMBS DOWN for SMGIII. I've taken note. This is a significant push for me, to get the manual on the M3 when it comes out.

I certainly appreciate the clear and unbiased review.

I absulutely love BMWs and the new M6 is no exception, but the slalom speed that insideline/edmunds.com got out of the car seemed a bit slow and somewhat disappointing. The slalom for the M5, which I would think to be slower since the M6 is basically an M5 but faster, was 69.2 mph compared to the M6's 67.1. I was expecting the M6 to reach at least 70 in the slalom. I guess that's it. If anyone has any possible explanation for this, it would be nice.
