I know this would be a long shot, but,

If your Accord had the same wiring harness as the Canadian model, AND the light is in the dash, AND all you needed was a different cover on the washer bottle that had a float attached, then all you need is to purchase the cover and plug it in.

I've heard of similar cases with models of cars that didn't come with cruse. All you had to do is buy the push button for the stalk and plug it in.

Gees, it's Christmas!! What the heck am I doing on the Honda forum?

Honda Accord navigation system won't boot by rick1367

My son has a 2005 Honda Accord hybrid that the nav system would not come on following a 2 week vacation. While the nav system isn't vital, he is unable to start his air conditioner. The Honda dealer says he has never seen the problem before, but he is willing to install a new one for $4500. Does anyone out there have any experience with this?

09 Accord climate control question by darapo

When I set my climate control at Auto 70 on a very hot day, the fan starts out blowing at medium or slightly above medium. It has never run at full speed to rapidly cool the interior down. I always have to adjust the fan up manually, and after a few minutes I return it to the Auto mode. Is this normal? I once had a Chevy Carprice with Comfortron, and the fan would run at it's highest speed when the system first started up.

If your 09 A/C works anything like my 03, you have to turn the temperature knob down all the way to low (when in auto mode), if you want the fan to blow at high. If you leave the temperature set at 70, it will get there, but it's not in a big hurry. Just turning the temperature down to say 65, will increase the fan speed enough for me most of the time.

I began having this exact problem AFTER my old battery failed on my '99 Accord. When I took out the old battery, there was a ton of battery acid buildup on the (+) terminal. I replaced it with the strongest battery I could find, and immediately started having the flashing climate control, and no lights on the gauge selector display.

After tolerating the inconvenience for several months, I finally decided to get some plumber's sand paper last week and clean up the battery terminals AND the clamps on the wires which connect to the battery to get them shiny again. Then I reconnected the battery, and so far everything seems to be working great.

For those interested, an old toothbrush dipped in a paste cosistency mix of baking soda & water will clean a battery terminal or clamp beautifully and cheaply.

As the title suggests thanks for responding. I was constantly in a state of OMG what is wrong because I kept getting the impression that these were normal commuting numbers for everybody. My car consistantly gets 27 and I thought there was something strange. Guess not.

Although with winter approaching and the defrosters going I expect the numbers to go down, especially since when the defrosters are on not only is it taking heat off the engine, which I've heard is bad for mileage, but also the A/C is on and running the compressor, which I've heard mixed responses on.

So again thanks.

tankbeans,

Dudley posted this earlier, and I assume he'd be okay with me pasting it on here. If you'd like to use the defroster WITHOUT running the A/C (as when just de-icing the windshield), here are the steps to allow you manual control of the A/C when the defrost choice is selected. Stock, you cannot manually turn off the A/C when the vents are set on defrost. The compressor will keep running, even though the light turns off. Using this "hack," YOU control the A/C.

1) With vehicle on, push the airflow button for "top vent".
2) Shut car off.
3) Turn temp knob to the coldest setting
4) Turn fan off
5) How down both "Air Recirculation" button and "AC" button. With both buttons depressed, turn key to "ON" position. (don't need to actually start the car) Keep holding the buttons down for at least 7 seconds.
6) The AC and Air Recirculation lights will light up and flash at different points during the 7 second hold-down.
7) When the air recirculation light stops flashing, release the two buttons.

Now you have full control over the AC. When you hit the Defog button, the AC light will now illuminate. You can now shut it off if you so desire and get Defog air without AC!

Thanks again dudleyr!

Does this have to be re-done periodically and does the car automatically reset to the factory option as soon as it's shut off? Are there any negative consequences to performing this little "hack," as you called it?
