Not looking forward to it. We are in Bossier City in the Northwest corner of the state, maybe we won't get hit too hard. There is a possibility of 65 mph winds and possibly 9-10 inches of rain. Luckily our home is not in a flood prone area. Thanks for asking. Bud

I bought an 04 Ford Escape XLT 4wd in June 07 with 44K miles on it. I have put 20K+ problem free miles on it. It is gold with tan leather, sunroof, side airbags, premium sound system
. Heated seats and radio controls on steering wheel would be nice. I'm get about 19 MPG in Town and 25MPG Hwy. I would love to trade for an 08 Escape or Tribute.

hello, i'm dave. bought mine oct,07. it has been great, all around, also i use premium gas, shell is my preference, but will use bp if nessecary. also use shell oil. noticed an increase of about 1 mpg more using shell oil, not much, but any little bit helps. have not had a chance to try out 4x4 yet, but looking forward to it.

I have a 2001 Ford Escape which I LOVE. Unfortunately the transmission is starting to go so I started looking for something to replace it. I found a 2002 Mazda Tribute which is a lot like my Escape only has more toys and bigger tires so it feels bigger. I need to decide by Wed. that's 2 days if I want it... I like the looks, the toys, the similarity to my Escape, which gets good gas mileage for an SUV.
Who thinks I could be happy in a 2002 Tribute? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
cherrilu in MA

If you love your Escape so much why not replace your tranny with a Ford remanufactured transmission? Ford offers 3yr/100,000 mile warranty on their reman trannys. If you give me the last 8 numbers of your VIN I can provide you with true list price and part number for the replacement tranny if you wish.

Looking at a 2002 Tribute. Will 16 in. tires make a difference as far as gas mileage? My 2001 Escape (15 in. tires) gets 18mpg around town and up to 25 on the highway.. Can I expect the same or better from the Tribute with bigger tires?
Thanks again,

Shouldn't make any difference. As the diameter of the wheel increased to 16 in., the sidewall height of the tire decreased so the overall tire and rim size is approx. the same Do both vehicles have the same engine configuration? That is are both 4 cyl. or is one a V6 and the other a 4?

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. They are both V6. Would you guess the mileage will change with the newer Tribute?
Thanks again

If the engine is tuned properly and has approx. the same mileage as the Escape there shouldn't be much difference at all.
