Don't worry S2000, I'm coming to your defense! The S2000 also has a rear window defroster
and the audio controls, while no on the steering wheel, are within fingers reach. Oh, and don't forget about the 'fancy VSC button'
All kidding aside, the S2000 isn't known for the creature features, that is for sure... to be quite honest, except for heated seats, the only option I'd like to have is an in dash navigation system. I've seen some photos of some custom work done and it looks like an OEM install... very nice.

Is the stereo opening a standard size? i.e. DIN or double-DIN? That opens up plenty of options.

It's standard radio size (I speak of the AP1, but I'm not 100% about the AP2s). The problem is the door. The deck needs to have a very flat faceplate to fit.

The DINS are the same for the AP1 and AP2 (I have an AP2 and I'm looking at replacing my head unit, soon).
You cannot put in an in-dash Nav as the radio is inset into the dashboard and if the Nav display came out, the underside of the dash would interfere. If the nav came out too far, then it would get in the way of the gear shifter. See images for better explanation...
If I had the funds, here is what I'd like to do... nicely done. http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=26&t=443168

I see what you mean, it's sunk in too much for those pop out and up screens.
That custom job looks great, though.

I can see the tweeters in the doors (a definate sign of an AP2), but the center console looks AP1. Didn't the AP2 have the slider bin?

You are correct, AP2 does have a slider for the center storage bin. I have a 2007 and between the roof button and the hazard button is the rear window defroster so I'm not sure what year the photo you posted is from. In either case, the housing for the radio did not change, IIRC. I don't recall what year the S2000 was in those photos but I can find out if you are interested. I've also seen photos of where someone mounted a Garmin in the A-Pillar and made it look very nice. They used fiberglass and made it all look very snazzy and almost OEM. I'll see if I can find that and post it regardless.
I cannot find the link right now, I'll have to look again tonight.

I just googled it. The reason I ask is because I'd rather have the slider bin. If it's a direct replacement (like just about everything else) then that'd be an easy mod. Right now I have my Apex'i piggyback integrated into the center console (in place of that plastic piece behind the cupholder).
