Hi I am new here I am not a mechanic obviously and I am having some problems. I keep blowing a fuse on my Blazer, when I first start it. I took it in to a repair shop when it would not start after a cold spell. I thought it was a timing belt. Turned out to be a fuse for the fuel pump, pump was checked out and it was ok. And a fouled spark plug. About 5 days later it started it blowing fuses. It would start and run and then the next time it would blow a fuse. I had the heater switch replaced before the fuse problem began. Now the heater is not working at all. Please help, thanks. Replies to this message: repairdog (Feb 04, 2007 4:09 am)

my brother and i just repaced the left wheel hub assembly, being newbies we did it in about 4 hours with a few trips back to the auto store for a 18mm square wrench,hub puller,and rental on a socket set for the torque wrench(cannot be rented)all in all it went better than expected, no vibration at source. A curious thing happened afterward. i left the keys in the ignition and killed the battery. keys would not release from the starter and would not start even after jumpers. we cleaned the terninals, should i be looking for something else other than my auto club card.i mean no power at all..very wierd. please write back with ideas. and has anyone used nu-lense..if so does it really work Replies to this message: repairdog (Feb 04, 2007 4:16 am)

Replying to: tomjan79 (Feb 03, 2007 9:59 pm) Either you have a shorting wire somewhere in the vehicle that you have to track down or the fuel pump is failing and drawing too many amps so fuse blows. Check fuel pump relay or replace and make sure all connections are clean at fuses and pump - corrosion causes more resistance thus amps increase so fuse blows. Check the vac lines under hood for the heater, then heater core, temp running normal (thermostat), and blower working.

Replying to: nujimmyowner (Feb 03, 2007 10:11 pm) Never said year or model but would say the Passlock security system was activated. Older ones have special keys and newer do not but shuts off ignition. Try turning the key off with the battery connected, remove battery cable again and see if key comes out. Then with key out connect battery - did it work. If the security light continues to flash after 5 sec when key is turned to run thats passlock (should go out like other dash warnings).

Can lights be replaced in such items as the power window controls, radio button back lighting, and other dashboard back lighting? Replying to: medic604 (Feb 15, 2007 8:07 pm) Generally speaking all light sources are replacable. Some are just harder to get to than others. You also need to watch the voltage on the bulbs. Many auto bulbs used in the dash, radio, and other hard to reach places are actually rated for 16-18v for longevity.   As for window controls, the bulb may be built into the switch and not be available as a separate piece. Varies from one application to another.   Jim
