PIG ON GAS by boesman1

My 07 AWD is beyond disappointing in the MPG dept., I have never gotten more than 275 miles from a full tank (17.5 gal) and I typically average 220 - 235 per tank. This puts me in the under 15mpg dept with consistency. My driving habits have varied from light to hard with no real difference in mileage, although I once even only got 190 from a tank full.

I had the PCM reflashed during last service back in 12/07 or so. None the less, the mileage is pitiful and I am considering rolling out of this gas hog next year. Too bad, for I truly enjoy ALL the other aspects of this vehicle, perhaps a Murano will be my next ride.

You might want your dealer check your PCM again. I kept having problems of the transmission hanging up in 5th gear when it should have been in 6th gear.
That computer setting can be adjusted.

Also, have you tried to drive with the manual shift side, that is even more fun. I got better gas milage in town, but you cant dog it. Too many high rmp's in lower gear settings burns a lot more gas.

It took three trips for them to get it right, it might work for you.

I am really trying to not bring the tach over 3k for a tank full (hard to do) , about 100 miles of hwy on this tankful if I dont break 300 miles I will continue to be disappointed with the MPG

We just purchsed our CX-7 two months ago and we love it. I just figured mileage with the last two tanks. The first time it was 15.927, and the last time it was 16.62. The last one may not be entirely accurate because the tank was topped off. So far, I believe that the economy will be better than our previous crossover, which was a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica FWD.

I don't have any qualms with the CX-7 at all...well built, sporty, powerful.

I do plan to install a cold-air intake within a couple months. From the reviews I've read it will make the turbo sound more noticeable. Mazda put a rather restrictive air-box on the CX-7 and it diminshes that satisfying turbo sound.

07' AWD ---at freeway speeds 70+ received 25.9 MPG. Using 91 premium. Would suggest having front end alligned, added 2+ mpg afterwards. Also, keep tire pressure 35~37 psi. replace air filter, change oil every 3~4000 miles.
