#2128 of 2218 Extended Warranty on A/C Compressor Clutch
Jan 25, 2013 (9:59 am)
Yesterday I got a notice from Honda that the warranty has been extended on the A/C Compressor Clutch for 7 years/100,000 (whichever is first). I actually had the compressor replaced last week on my 2009 CR-V, 85,000 miles, at the cost of over $1,000. This notice said to mail in the notice with your repair bill for possible reimbursement. I have no idea how much, but I'm going to send it in.

I have a 2008 CR-V EX-L. I have not seen this letter from Honda. Did it say what model years were covered? Are you in Canada or the USA?

My AC blew at 96K, and at the time the warranty was through 95K. But from what I could see, I would have only received $150.00, so not worth all the time I would have had to invest. Keep us posted if you are successful.

I have to presume there are folks who work for Honda that view this blog on a regular basis, so hopefully my words will be shared.
If Honda invested the money to do the right thing and fix all the A/C issues via a recall, they wouldn't lose all the customers they have likely lost over this issue. It seems a $2000 investment which actually would cost Honda a lot less, is a better investment than losing customers who will not invest in another Honda because of this AC system. So instead of losing $1000-$2000 to fix the problem, they have now lost over $20-30K from those of us that will not invest in a Honda again. It is not to say other auto companies don't have issues, but hoping if something like this happens with another vehicle I purchase in the future, the company will do the right thing.

I also received the warranty extension in the mail for my 2007 CR-V for the Compressor Clutch. I had a $1000 repair. My receipt says they replaced the compressor, which the dealership says is different than the compressor clutch. I have no idea. Does anyone know if this makes sense?

We bought a brand new 2008 honda CRV EX-L and the very first year we were in RENO Nevada and doing about 70 or so down the highway in the summer , It was 127'f and all was fine and then the AC started blowing HOT air out and we could not get cold air to come out no matter what we did, so we rolled all the windows down just to breathe. eventually it started to work somewhat at lower speeds. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it. So this happened intermittently on and off for years and now it's 2013 , we owned it five years and the AC will not work at all. So I will be checking the clutch first and then the relays and then the PSI's with a gauge set from harbor freight $44.00 MYSELF , as HONDA can't fix anything while it's under warranty. they pretend nothings wrong until warranty is up. ALSO we had a moon roof air leak , s I took the car to Honda and wasted a day while they worked on it. so I was driving it home and it was fine until I opened and closed it, and then a whistle again. There is oily hand prints all over the head liner around the area. Apparently they poked it with fingers until it was quiet then gave it back to me. They should of replaced the seal. so after a harsh email from me they called me back to come in again.. I did and it still whistles . We also purchased leather interior, well we have pleather arm rest on the doors and the center arm rest and they are all peeled and bubbled up, it is very ugly. I was told that Honda's were great cars , so I bought one, I have owned new cars and used cars in my life and I can honestly say that this Honda is the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned ever. I will never buy another Honda and I tell everybody I know the same. Honda may have been a good car at one time but not anymore.I hope mine burns up on the side of a highway .
#2135 of 2218 Honda told me to "Take a Hike"

I've had problems with this 2007 Honda CRV from failed doorlocks, failed airbags, and now a failed AC compressor. I had it replaced ($700) and then received the extended warranty letter from Honda. I sent my paperwork in and they refused to reimburse me because they said they increased the mileage to 100,000...and I had 101,151 miles on it!! Its been making noise for quite some time, before it turned over on 100,000, but I haven't had the money to get it repaired until now...but ha ha too bad for me! I waited too long I guess and honda's got my money....but I can guarantee...thats the last dime I'll ever spend to buy a Honda...it's been one of the most unreliable cars I've ever owned!!

I had a 1992 Dodge Dakota, bought new, and at 1 year old all the paint started peeling off in large sheets. Took it to Dodge and they told me to take a hike...their exact answer was "we don't warrant paint". That was over 20 years ago...and I've never bought another Dodge!...Honda should take heed....
